Most of the Cliche's there are basic story elements though... Even a manga with an utterly original concept will use some of those elements in its story.

Since Mangas like to try and move the reader, emotional monologues is the basic way to go right? If characters didn't conform to these 'cliche stereotypes' they would be boring as hell to read. Would you want to read about a completely ordinary salaryman living in Japan, with a regular job, normal family, normal parents... I certainly wouldn't.

Originality is nice, but to expect is unfair, there are only so many original ideas people can have dead

Anyway, for frustrating Cliche's... Bad fights in Shounen where the Characters exchange a single invisibly fast blow, then spend 3 chapters talking. Rinse, repeat.

Any action is killed by it, and since you forgot what last happened in the fight, characters have to randomly cough up blood or something to remind you that they were hit. Fight first and ask questions later please!

I like the 'fights' in Mx0 because Kuzumi is constantly thinking of ways to blag a victory out of sheer ingeniousness, and some of his lateral thinking spawns hilarious idea's and makes you want to cheer after every little hard-fought win he has. Love it.

How is that a cliche? A chliche is something overused to point of losing its effect or novelty. I don't think having the hero win will ever lose its novelty, many peopel wnat to see the bad guys lose, just a fact.

That sounds like an opinion to me. And most like to see the main character to lose? Something like yugioh and pokemon always irritates me.

But come on, that's just getting way to generelized. That's like saying the worst shounen cliche is that the guy who wins always looks cool. Which, sadly, I'm sure someone already mentioned here.

Moreover even this was a cliché, it's not a SHOUNEN cliché. It can also be applied to many works of literature, movie, fictions, etc. that came before shounen manga. It's not just typical of shounen.

Hey - someone has to be weak.

If the heroin is weak you can automatically have a "womenz in teh kitchen makin sammich" character. That gets you cookie points.

Wall of quotes is being tl;dr. Fix plz.

One of the reasons that the main character always wins is because in most cases of shounen manga, it's a life or death situation. You can't have your main character dying whenever he feels like it. Not everything can be Dragonball Z. I'm not saying that it's infallible logic, but it's a lot easier to come up with relatively reasonable ways for villains to lose and still live then it is for heroes.

So true, I can see you calling an attack if it's like magic or something to that effect (Dragonball is a good example), but if your just kicking someone why give it a name (One Piece is a good example)?

Well I'm not sure if this would be considered cliched but..

When the main character won't kill no matter how evil the villain is. (Gotta say though, Kenshin's an exception)
About to be defeated, and then someone close calls out and they miraculously get the strength to win.
The main character gets stronger through hardwork in a week @_@
The harems where the guy is a weak loser.
Nobody important/good ever dies.
The bad guy is really just misunderstood in the end.

I still hate more when in order to let the main char kill an evil villain, the author make the good guy forgive him, then the evil guy clearly try to get an opening faking his surrendering and only then the author let the good guy kill the bad guy. It's so annoying to me.

I found this website that shows some cliches and I'm going to post the ones that I agree with the most. (Although it has "Anime" in the title, manga is the source material for most anime, so technically all these count.)

http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Laws_of_Anime_Physics

But I'm surprised no one has mention these yet...

1) No matter how much damage a character's body takes, after they recover you won't see any scars. And the only time they get a scar, it becomes a plot device for later on (i.e. The whole throbbing pain from the scar when the person who caused it is near)

2) The more retarded a plan is that the protagonist makes up, the more likely it is to work. In cooperation with this, the antagonist always has a genius plan that fails.

3) Getting stabbed multiple times only kills you if you are unimportant to the story.

4) If the main character has something everyone else has (Devil Fruit, O-Parts, etc.), then the main character's thing will be more powerful or have more uses than anyone else's.

5) If the story isn't about samurais or ninjas, then both of them will make at least one appearance in some form in the story.

6) Whenever a character (Good or Evil) starts to transform, the other side won't attack them in the middle of their transformation, but instead just stand there and watch while being shocked.

7) Protagonists and Antagonists can wield huge ass weapons that would be heavy with having any muscle mass whatsoever.

8) The larger and tougher-looking someone is, the weaker they are, and vice-versa.

9) Transformations, whether mech or monster, are a long and arduous process the first time it occurs. However, the process is sped up and even instant every time afterwards.

10) Armies do fucking nothing. Either they don't exist, or their most powerful forces don't have any effect on the enemy.

11) The "Invisible Sheath" (definition: A sword can be attached to a person's side or back without a belt or a sheath to hold it in) is present in all scenarios. If the protagonist has a sheath, that just means his sword is too small.

12) In the event of a card game, the protagonist alone can spawn from nowhere cards that would be completely useless in any other situation, but are exactly what he needs at that moment.

13) The later a character is introduced, the more badass they are likely to be.

14) When the time comes that the protagonist does something complicated or amazing their first time, he will beat all known records and one-up any veterans.

15) When assigned a task, the protagonist seems doomed to failure and death. However, the more time it takes the protagonist to complete this task the more likely he will complete it.

16) The strength and clarity of a sound do not weaken with distance or interference. One who is fighting in the air will still be able to hear the regular volume comments of his/her companions as if they were right next to each other in a calm setting. However, concentration on menial tasks, like eating or being on a date with some woman, has the opposite effect. Hearing and listening skills will be impaired tenfold.

17) When a character gains the possession of a giant robot, they immediately know how to control it without a sliver of prior training.
