No, i'm not a stalker. I haven't read their version of the chapter until you pretty much said that it was perfect , while it wasnt one at all. And no , sloppy work will always be sloppy , so i havent noticed how they improved , when they havent.

Really, you're not a stalker? Thats the news for me. Seeing that you were the one who always brought hot news about them,I thought that you might be having a thing for MP.
Will you ever drop your self conceited ego? Cant you stop acting as others puppet and accept the things which are really happening ? I know that it will hurt your so called pride to accept the reality that MP have improved, but you will have to come in check with the reality. Go for a change.
See their first translated chapter and their new translated chapters~Cleaning and Typsetting is on completly different level from before. If you are blind then thats the other case, please consult a doctor if so is the case. What you pointed out wasnt even worth mentioning. Just some small QC (and please dont lecture me on wht is a qc) mistakes is really understandable. Did they missed any information/meaning from the original? Did they changed something? As far I can remember they didnt.
You pointed out that slim errors but you didnt even noticed the big changes? You are really something.
Cant pick out something as basic as that = dont deserve to think that someone have not improved.
Consult an eye doctor today!

That's the thing dude , those 3 pages are examples that because they didnt translate it properly they couldnt put it to sound good in english. They cut off parts of the original text or translated it wrong entirely , then they tried to make it sound good in english , but because so much was lost , they couldnt do it.

And no , cleaning and typesetting haven't improved. Any sane person that knows the job will tell you that a typesetter that has to use strokes of +20 or more to cover up the poor redraws of the sfx's is not an improvement.

would you like to be our translator? Since you are such a master of the Korean language. Also, when pointing out translation mistakes you should really cite the original korean, and then give examples of where it went wrong.

Why is that in every new post you make it becomes less and less logical ?
Can you please tell me what meaning has been disorted?
I read the latest TOG and I didnt find any things which will make you think that their quality have fallen. Its more like that you cant agree to it ....probably jealousy? Now I am sure you will say something along the lines that there is nothing to be jealous of from them. Seriousley when will you stop envying others?
You cant provide any valid reasons to support your accusations and then you blame them for this and that? You know(I bet you do) they have made a special section for likes of you.. So please put your personal hate there or in your personal forums but please let this forum be logical and envy free. Post something logical with valid proofs. Wake up and learn to move on your own rather than being some commanded bot.
Thank You.

Uh, this thread is scary.

Back on track, I prefer quality over speed! Definitely! I also keep from reading speed-releases, if they're poorly done, and another group is doing quality releases of the same series (even if they do it ten times slower). There are plenty of series out there to pass the time with while waiting!

For me, the quality of the typesetting is very important! It adds so much more to the story, and it makes me happy to see people having fun experimenting with fonts (though not excessively).

Even if scanlators are seen as "amateurs", often, they do their work far better than publishers (well, this is the case in my country), and with lots of love. That's my opinion. eyes

I prefer speed if the quality is decent-good and I can still understand everything. Theres this manga I'm reading that has multiple translators. One group put out excellent quality work but the updates were very slow. Out of nowhere this other group pops out and starts churning out the rest of the chapters like crazy. I honestly do not notice such a big difference in quality and they are coming out so fast now. What's not to love?

Or i can simply remind you that you need to think more before and after translating , if what you spill out to the world makes sense. I saw the improvement in Godai for 2 chapter that you still havent made yet while translating this series , so please stop proposing to anyone that points out the mistakes in your releases and think.

so what you're saying is, is that you don't know a shred of korean and yet you are still pretending like you know what's being translated, and whether if it's right or wrong. If it's so terribly translated, then why don't you do it yourself? OH WAIT, you CAN'T. If you're gonna leech, then leech quietly, you are getting a product for free, so don't bitch about what you're not paying for and not putting in the work to produce. Beggars can't be choosers, ESPECIALLY beggars that can't even understand korean or japanese. smile

I really didnt think he made a logical statement. Am I being rude? Sorry if it sounded like that but the words I used for him are the same he used for me some times ago.I really didnt feel offended so I thought he wouldnt feel the same. Seeing his comments,I have no choice but to use them as those words pretty much described about his attitude towards MP.

Edit:
@ ante900310: You are right on my grammar part. English is my third(fourth to be precise) language but that doesnt excuse my terrible state. Its really frustating some people never cares to see the improvement.

Well but so are you, you are getting the webtoons free and yet you are making money for product you are not paying for while not heeding your own advice to leech quietly, touché embarrassed

hmm things are starting to get off track again...
and a bit rough...
you should calm down before the mods need to intervene (again).

on topic:
quality over speed anytime, this includes translation as well as presentation (resolution/font/redraw/etc.).
I don't try mangapirate anymore, I guess I like sticking to my 'trusted' scanlation teams... I really can't say if the translation is correct or not because (obviously) I'm not a native, but for me the wording was less appealing than that of other teams...

I think you are wrong on the MP's quality fall. After reading your post,I checked both versions of TOG and I really didnt find any quality difference.... ...Their translations of the TOG(I checked last 2 chapters) were on same scale of The Company,if not higher...

Well I started reading it when they started releasing them and not just the two latest chapters. I didn't see any spelling errors in the latest one so cheers to them!

Still I went back to check the first chapters to see that I wasn't just talking out of my ass. However, I only read a few pages before I found an error, they translated scout as searcher which kind of bugged me since it shows they are clearly not familiar with the series with could in turn lead to errors such as this!

I only read the chapter where I thought I remembered the grammatical errors being, but couldn't find them and lost interest finding them after that so I can't really prove anything!

But at least I can admit that!

I also checked the last chapters from both groups while I'm not English (I'm Swede) I do have what is equivalent to a master's degree in English!

From what I read I felt that the phrasing the company used was more proper while the mangapirates was visible more casual so at the least I wouldn't call their translation wrong, but definitely not superior and well if you can't acknowledge, then you are the one being biased!

Quote from strixflash
Their progress is really worth mentioning for a new group and well if you cant acknowledge that then you are really being biased.

I never said they shouldn't translate stuff and quite frankly I don't care who translates it. I simply read it at the company because of the better phrasing and its uncut version of the series the way the author intended it to be read!

While I don't get the Idea of a "stolen" project I do get of publishing other people's releases!

And no it's not the same as stealing the authors work since without a translation it would be impossible for us to enjoy it, if there was a licensed version of it that would be another case, but there isn't and it's very likely it won't get one!

I'm sorry, I don't mean to offend you in any way by saying this, but you're clearly in no position to judge what good grammar is, which is evident from your post which has numerous grammatical errors!

Translating things is much more than just taking it word for word and rearrangeing the order there are also subtle things like clauses and phrases!

You may say this doesn't matter because it's a forum post, but if you know good grammar you use it!

Quote from strixflash
I would say that their scanlation quality have improved very much in really a short amount of time.

I can't argue with that because it's true, however, that doesn't justify what they're doing and certainly doesn't justify being an ass.

I'm just speaking quality wise here so if you want that you should go with TheCompany, I just don't see speed as a factor here since they release them at the same rate of speed anyway!

And this goes out to everyone here: Just because you can be an ass on the internet doesn't mean you have to be, keep it classy people!

Quote from do_or_die
that will dig scanlation community's grave my friend. Leave local regulations aside, Japanese publishers have all the exclusive international legal rights to stop all popular scanlation activities and force us to go underground. The fact that they don't do is because they ignore us small fries.

...

Thats the point. The big sites are the ones who are diverting the attention of publishers towards scanlators community and ofcourse towards themselves. To publishers it doesnt matters whether it is batoto or mangafox as both of them are earning their share of the money.

Now lets get back to the topic!
Improvement:
I completly agree with ante900310 on this matter. While I cant judge the grammar myself,I have surely noticed many other changes. I picked 2 chapters(one new and one old ofcourse) and noticed that in their earlier releases they didnt cleaned sfx and the font used back then wasnt much of readable quantity.
In short their editing skills surely have improved; I leave translation quality to be judged by some Korean translator.

Money:
Sadly I cant say that Manga Pirates are the only ones who are earning money. There are many (not all) scanlators who gets a large amount in their pocket even after paying for server or other charges. I am really not in the mood to be criticised by either scanlators or batoto staff/fans so I will stop here. To understand what I am saying please read this if you havent read it in the past.

I'm not gonna criticize , but i can tell for sure that those hundreds that were mentioned in the thread there are not and were not possible even when we had google adsense program for a single group per month (that includes japanzai , red hawk and egs , which are the groups with the biggest content on batoto or were in the past , havent been keeping score lately).

Just because i'm not a translator doesnt mean i dont know a shred of any language , but even if i didnt know enough to know that you fail , i can still make the possible conclusion based on observations from 5 different translators that work in anyway on tog , without including you. And please dont call me beggar, if it wasnt for stirxflash to keep you glorified i wouldn't even have come to your site and try to read your work.
