I hate it when the girl hates the guy, but then can't resist him at the same time -_-;

I don't feel like reading 16 pages, so I'll just put whatever I hate the most:

-- Stupid, annoying girls.

They're far too wimpy to be deserving of love.
They should toughen up (and smarten up) at least a little bit.
And no, I'm not asking them to be really tough and overbearing; just, perhaps, at least average?

I usually have a slight wish for them to be corrupted. It's not that I don't want them to be pure and innocent (it's just that it's stretched far past cuteness)...
I want them to not think, "I am going to DIE! That was so embarrassing I'm going to die~! Maybe he doesn't like me? Oh no! How can I face him~?"

-- Smart (but they don't seem to act it), annoying guys.

They're usually perfect in everything, with girls squealing over them.
They're single fault is they're jerks, or really cold...
Or, maybe, they're a, "bad-boy." But, in the end, they're all soft and squishy inside. I mean, what?

Also the male lead is usually a beauty. Usually, meaning there are some that aren't. But he's never, ever ugly.
The personalities are not very much like actual guys, either.

-- Predictable plots.

I think it'd be great if you took the average shoujo plot, and, when the love rival comes in, the girl/guy is dumped for the love rival.
I also dislike how you can tell pairings from the beginning.

-- Art.

Why is everyone's hair a color that isn't black?

Sometimes, I notice that guys have nostrils in some of the manga, but the girls don't. Nope. Girls don't need to breathe.

Girls have huge eyes that are creepy (they've past the point of cuteness). For some reason, guys also have big eyes, but are shaped differently. Last time I checked, hands are bigger than eyes, and gender does not determine eye shape.
Sorry for the rant.

-- Instant love!

Heat for 5 minutes, and it's ready!

-- Weird, sappy lines.

Nobody says these in real life! Of course, this is manga.
I don't really have anything against them except that they're overdone.

-- Drama.

Can't they just have a peaceful relationship? Ever? At all?
Some types of drama are okay.
I just can't stand stupid or random drama.

If you don't get it, here are examples:

Stupid- Love triangles.

Random- It's a totally normal shoujo manga (stupid drama may of may not have been in this up to this point)...
But then suddenly we find out that someone has a dark past and are put in danger because of it.
It could be passed off as a plot twist, but it's really weird after five volumes to have it spring out at you with absolutely nothing to even slightly hint the fact it's there.
Most of the time, it's overdone, too.

-- Endings.

After all that drama, they're suddenly happy. Awww, how sweet... I don't buy it.

That's it. Really. I'm done with my list-of-annoyances-turned-rant.

Not true. For like %75 percent of manga, you can use the opposite hair color rule to predict ships. Lots of mangas have one part of the couple having black hair, the other having blond/orange/whatever, probably 'cause it looks good. I can only think of a handful of mangas where the female and male leads have the same hair color.

Well that's just the style of the art genre.

I'm so very sick of these girls that are so innocent they barely know what a kiss is. I doubt Japanese girls are getting laid that less often then their male counterparts.

you know what would be cool? A utterly evil and corrupt heroin. Nothing nice about her(except maybe her looks that would make manipulating easier). And she keeps being evil the rest of her life, no change of heart nothing!!! Just a female devil(but not like the devil and her love song she is nice!!!)

Ow another cliché!!! The heroin is extremely pretty and is hated for that... and girls in her class go and bully her and all and then male lead(who is obviously gorgeous and populair with the girls) comes and tells them to stop so they think he is in love with her and get even more jealous and bully even worse. Jealousy is a b*tch....

The main girl is always the cute, average, stupid, ditzy, slow, useless, crybaby while the guy is the most popular guy ever with gorgeous looks, best grades, can kick ass, sometimes super rich, and has millions of fangirls. That's the main cliche in all shoujo manga(most of it). And I'm getting tired of it, but I'm a sucker for romance.

And jenny, I totally agree with you. An evil pretty heroine would be cool, but she shouldn't be evil forever ^_^ cmon, there's gotta be some character development.

I feel like going into a rant about cliches now laugh

-Predictable, it's always predictable, you know who she's gonna end up with. SHe never ends up with the other guy.
-Love Triangle: Is there never a peaceful romance. No there's always the other guy/girl, and then the jealous fangirls that bully the girl. i always get mad at those scenes because they just let them beat them up. I want to see a scene when the girl actually kicks their a**es and stands up for herself, and not find the guy always magically there in time to protect her.
-The girl is always so innocent with no dating experience whatsoever, so the guy takes all of her firsts.
-The guy has this cold jerkish personality but is super sexy and is still liked so much, and deep inside has this sweet sensitive side, HA, yeah right.
-The girl is always so insecure like "omg omg omg, I totally embarrassed myself, he must hate me now. oh what am i going to do omg omg omg..."
-Brothers fighting over a girl. This has been overused. Plain and simple.

I've given up on hating the love triangle, 'cept when childhood friends are involved but don't get the girl 'cause an awful lot of 'em then become rapists. It's of course totally plausible that a guy's gonna rape his oldest friend and childhood love just 'cause she wants to date the playboy, 'cause being heart broken, 'calling her a slut/etc., and not speaking to her anymore is just not done anymore.

I want a heroine like Akane from Hot Gimmick; seriously, how is it practically the only shoujo manga where there's a likable female character who's had far more experience then her boyfriend? (though of course she runs into all sorts of trouble for it.)

At a certain point though, that's also good story telling. I mean if it's been built up for 42 volumes that she ends up with A and then she marries B in volume 43, most readers aren't gonna be happy. Now, knowing she'll end up with A from chap 1. and then playing it out for 42 volumes, that's annoying (but a different peeve.)

I wouldn't mind if she ended up with the "b" guy, half of the time, I'd probably be cheering for him. And yes, there aren't enough manga out there with some experienced heroines.
I kinda gave up the love triangle thing, it's never going to go away anyways, so why bother.

I don't even care if the other guy is bad, I find myself cheering for them (they often feel more real or better characters for the heroine)...I find it that these girls are more popular that I've ever been lol. Maybe guys are not as forward in real life eyes
...but also, the heroines are not really forward about their feelings. It annoys me when they don't even know themselves enough that they don't even know who they like. eyes I've never been in a love triangle...How often does that happen? Anyone else experienced it?

ew ok love triangles I hate them they're so unrealistic!I don't mind too much if its two girls chasing one guy thats rather interesting as the guy usually is pretty hot so it'd be logical their'd be more then one girl on the scene.
Harems and reverse harems, the whole "I'm moving away" as soon as the main couple get together, seriously what was the point of all of the drama if you don't even end up together!? and finally the worst when one of the main characters dies! what was the point then!?!? also the whole bad boy whos really kind or the whole shy girl who no one likes but manages to capture loads of handsome guys, god makes me want to gouge my eyes out.

i hate the cliche of the boyfriend ALWAYS having family problems, and its up to the girl to fix it or help out.

- Hot Gimmick
- Imadoki
- Alice 19th
- MARS
- Doubt!
- Billion Girl
- Akuma de Sourou
- Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai
- Kare First Love
- Paradise Kiss
- && the list goes on and on

i`ve never read a romance manga were the boy never had a family problem [ except for Nana...( its nana with the family problem ) and Koukou Debut ]

The love triangle's. It's always boy x girl x boy. Well, the ones that I read. Also, every guy falls for the female protagonist. The female is always pretty, but mostly dumb and the male is mostly always smart and cold. Oh! Another thing is that the female gets bullied by fangirls because she gets the guy and everyone else is upset.

cliche i hate.. How the main guy (usually misunderstood, evil, but sexy male main character with a hidden good side) continues to have his way with the simpering heroine, despite her yelling "No! No! Please..No!" ... geez.. if you REALLY don't want to be there that much.. .. kick the boy where it hurts and point and laugh (or run like hell.. whichever makes you happy).

laugh

I know, that one is a real annoyer.

I hate dumb girls, their very existence hurt my pride as female. They are not world saviors, they don't have to act like they are the most miserable girls in the world and try to save the world. They are not female representatives.

They should know how to live their very own life and not depend on the other too much. A little drama for female's past is fine, unfortunately I haven't read shoujo manga that satisfied me.

P/S: I think Host Club is good, the female character is not dumb and the plot is good. ^^
