Just by looks, that's probably true.
When I first heard that Matsujun was playing Domyouji, I couldn't imagine it AT ALL. Actually watching it, though, he really nailed the clueless arrogance much better than the Korean actor did (IMO). Also, the Korean version totally changed the character of Rui (and not in a good way, again IMO). And the Korean version's Tsukushi is a lot more helpless (gets rescued a LOT) which I didn't like.
