Actually, the pm system hear is LIKE a conversation. You can add more people by scrolling down and inputing the person's name under the "Invite" section.

My opinion: spamming consist off topic, 5 words or less, emoticons, or randomness. So as i went off topic it would consider as spam ^^; i don't want to spam so i just pm haha XD
Neofirehawk killed it though: Well, the term Spam make reference to all kind of junk messages that are received in newsgroups, E-mails and forums. Specifically, the problem here is in the definition of the term "junk" since all of us have a very particular concept over the utility or use of something (What it can be of use for one person can be useless for another, it's a very subjective concept). While it's true that some off-topic posts can be considered as spam (Like a person advertising something) I believe that this isn't the case since the information that you provided, while it wasn't directly related with the discussion topic, was important enough to deserve its own thread (Like you said in one of your former posts). It practically depends on the criteria of the moderator: Some consider all kind of off-topic posts as "undesirable" and they can even close the topic. Others, with a more "soft" politic, accept the "off-topic" comments as long as they are interesting (The off-topic conversation can even be more interesting than the original topic). So, as I say before, it depends on the person if a off-topic conversation is considered "junk" (And therefore, Spam).

Technically http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forum_spam
But keeping the context in relation to this forum, the word spam is being used to encompass many forms of unwanted posts. A definition that is being outlined by the moderators.
(half expecting to get that shoved back in my face)

Quote from dirkbogarde but what makes a post unwanted? you're unwillingness to accept contrary beliefs? i can understand about advertising that is annoying. but just cause someone is a dick or stupid or silly or serious or whatever... doesn't mean that they shouldn't be heard.
In conjunction with my first post, of course a different oppinion is not spam. Unwanted is proabally a bad choice of words. Unwanted in a sense that it is irrelevant and has no place in a discussion, be it advertising, a random comment(s), or a personal discussion with no relevance to the topic.

Quote from dirkbogarde but clearly it sprung from the thread making it very relative
things like "wow i like your avatar" and then the other person would say "thanks... blah, blah, blah..."
It's fine if it comes at the end of a post on topic, but these comments on their own escalate and ruin threads.

my definition of a spam is someone, something, someplace, or any unrelated relations with me mails me involving business or money, cause i rarely find any spams worth while looking to, only cause these people are just waiting for some idiot to click on and get himself f***ed over

I have 99.9999% she won't deny that she is spamming. In which we are discussing about spamming the topic is probably talking about everyone's opinion >_> I think no one is right and I don't think I trust wiki completely. *shrugs* if you're asking this forum what is spamming, then the admin/mods are the one that decide what post they think is spamming or they don't like which they can also think as spamming :]
Like kaioh said i want to deny responsibilities SO, it's in my opinion only

Did you see what i typed? "if you want to know what this forum define as spam"? dude, because many posts tell us that the admin and mods are the one to choose so i just support the idea with the word IF so then if he got another idea he can read this >_>

And I might soon lock this not for spam, but for flames.
No matter what you may thing, dirkbogarde, your word choice can be interpreted as derogatory and taken in the wrong way.
