My teams will definitely get slaughtered, but I am still watching.

That Spain-Netherlands match was amazing. Any time Spain loses is a good time~

Oddly enough for me, the Spain-Netherlands match wasn't too interesting at the early beginnings though it did get better after those wonderful goals by RvP and Robben. Started off believing Spain would win, though the game turned into something like a household cat (Spain) against a lion (Ned). Ah, the joys of not sleeping! Now I'll have to live on pure adrenaline and caffeine for my kayaking expedition after this.... none

I think Belgium might be the dark horses of this tournament I dunno. Got a decent team. We'll see how they play.

There's no one I'm really rooting for really. I mean, I'm British so it's England by default but let's be honest here. England suck laugh They're a great team on paper but I've yet to see them play really well on the pitch when the time comes. Eh.

I'm just enjoying the football and drinking beer at the moment. I just wanna see some great football and some great goals.
What a demolition by Holland though bahaha.

I don't like / watch football, but I'm guessing Spain or Brazil will win. As always, I'm rooting for Japan.

+1 smile Japan FTW \o/

I'm from Argentina so, obviously, I would like to see them win. However, that is quite unlikely :/ so I'll be cheering up for Spain if Arg fails one more time.

What a masterclass the Dutch put on the Spanish. They were awesome. Wasn't expecting that at all.

Makes this match between Straya - Chile coming up all the more enticing.

Meh, besides that the other matches have been alright imo. Brazil if they shore up their back line will be the clear favorites, even if they have to play Spain in the second round as it looks like atm.

Not giving my hopes up for 'Murrica but they're likely going three and out with their group being too tough for them and their talent level atm.

Ohhh that passion form the Chileans during their anthem biggrin

I know nothing about football. Not sure if I favor Brazil for the way they put a sport over their own people, but the US is for sure not gonna make it to the top. Never mind, the world cup irritates me in general, people are just plain nuts. A fanatic kills themselves if their team loses AND if their team wins.

You're generalizing way too much. There are some fanatics, but they would be the same without football. The World Cup is also a chance to have fun together cheering for your country and for good matchessmile

That's ridiculous. You're ridiculous. As long as an insanely corrupt country like Brazil is hosting (or Russia, in the future, but at least Russia still has zero chance of winning...), and we have ridiculously biased refs that non-jokingly get named game MVP by the "fans", cheering for "good matches" is a pipe dream.

Nation pride tells me to choose England, but honestly we haven't a chance. I'm putting money on either Brazil, Argentina or the Netherlands to win it.

The Netherlands have a ridiculously strong team this year, and have been playing much better than any other team recently. Their win over Spain was beautiful, unlike Brazil who were lucky to have such a point difference because their form was sloppy. Having said that, Brazil had the home advantage, and there is a reason they have won more world cups than any other country, they can play amazingly when they are on top form, and they have some great players, so I'm not ruling them out.

Argentina has Messi. He is the greatest footballer of this generation. He inspires hope and can single-handedlt carry Argentina through.

It's a tough call. I voted Netherlands though. I think they have the edge in overall quality. Brazil and Argentina rely too much on a few top players.

My group predictions
A - Brazil win. Croatia - 2nd
B - Netherlands win. Spain - 2nd
C- Colombia win. Japan or Greece 2nd
D- Italy win. England or Uruguay 2nd.
E- France win. Switzerland 2nd.
F- Argentina win. Nigeria 2nd.
G- Germany win. Portugal 2nd.
H- Belgium win. Russia 2nd.

You're right, it's bad to generalize; but huge sporting events are generally absurd. Though, even amateur football matches end in players dying from stab wounds, lynching, stoning, and a beheading all in a single afternoon. "Let's enjoy the unity of the world's favorite game" which is a nice idea, but it grosses me out that a church will sanction the use of prayers to God for your national soccer team, or that most of these players have been pro since they were 16 and pour all their time into football instead of getting to grow up.

Germany will probably win this whole thing to be honest, never seen such a well organised offense.

I'll support Portugal to the end! We just got unlucky is all. How many world cups running now have Portugal been in a group of death?

Gotta say, you're a real buzz kill. Are you like this at every party? "I just can't understand how a group of people will get together a drink themselves in to a slow grave! Alcohol is BAD". Have you done that one yet?

Have you heard, people sometimes sing since the ages as little as 8 years old? Eventually make it their career as young as beiver(if that is an age)!? What non-sense is this!
None of what you wrote means a lot besides the fact that you have glass tinted version of what life should be like, which would be awfully boring i bet.

Entertainment is a big part of any society, no matter the form. World wide, shared between almost every nation and country...it becomes special.

I'll admit that I objectify matters, but is it so bad to believe people should refrain from placing a game above their own well-being and above morals? I don't know why you brought up alcohol or child singers, or what a beiver is...but I'm not condemning sports, dude. I play soccer, I watch sports and love them. What I dislike is people who can't handle that a game is a game. With that said, GO USA, you'll most likely lose the next round but you did damn good, son.
