One of the best shoujo heroines I've ever seen are Tsukushi Makino from Hana Yori Dango and Yukino Miyazawa from Kare Kano. They can really stand up to themselves, and I really admire them. Sana Kobata from Kodocha, Kyoko Mogami from Skip Beat!, Haruhi Fujioka from Ouran High School Host Club, Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket and Sakura Kinomoto from Cardcaptor Sakura are another one of these examples. Well, I'll think more about good shoujo heroines later.....

For me the best shoujo character are the one which ain't no pushover ya know what i mean. Characters like Nobara from Crimson Hero, Haruna from Koukou Debut or Ito from W-Juliet. Those are the type of characters that can one way or another fend for themselves and aren't too dependent like some sissies shoujo characters - the damsel in distress type of character which sometimes really annoy the hell out of me.
Strong and independence(in manners, opinions or views on things) those for me are what defines the best shoujo heroines.

Yup, I'm going to pretty much say the same as everyone else. Kyoko from skip beat Tsukasa from Tokyo Crazy Paradise and Sunako from THe wallflower
oh... I'll also add Hana from My heavenly Hockey club as a recent addition to my favorite characters (mainly because she is lazy ).

Mine are Tohru Honda from fruits basket,
and Yukari Fujimaru from penguin kakumei.
I don't read much shoujo, but those ones are really the best there .

Hmm, let's see... Some of my favorites are:
Yukino Miyazawa from Kare Kano- Love her, no complaints.
Tsukushi Makino from HYD- Same.
Haruhi from Ouran Host Club- I love her ditzyness. Go HaruhixTama forever!
Yuna from The Queen's Knight- While it's true that the real best thing about TQK is Rieno, I do admire Yuno for sticking up for herself.
um...
again, Maria from Devil and Her Love Song, Da-Eh from Hissing, etc...
