....I just realized that Kaicha wa maid sama is the number one most viewed series on mangafox.
with THREE TIMES the number of views as 2nd place (Skip Beat)
...why?!?

Not sure entirely what to say, but that Maid Sama was a part of TokyoPop in the US license, and are obviously no longer producing new volumes, so that would increase the the amount of online or illicit views for fans. Adding to that, Skip Beat is huge to the point that most people would more likely download than view online. As on download sites, Skit Beat has been number one shoujo for quite some time. That's my guess.

I'm gonna agree that I LOVED the Ouran anime and last volume of the manga, but somewhere in the middle (of the manga) it stopped being "shoujo-parody" and funny and actually started having drama (which I did not appreciate). And Hot Gimmick has been mentioned a lot on this thread, all for reasons I totally agree with.

im not a huge shoujo fan because of the cliches and female charecters wich are normally (but not allways dont wish to offend ayone) stupid cryebabies with bid eyed blushes who nearlly always end up sick after staing out in the rain only to have the jerk main male love intrest save and look after her. no
there are some shoujos i love such as Warau Kanoko-sama andskip beat.however i really dont like mangas like vampire knight(know idea why its so popular, tried to read it when looking for strong female leads dead to me she is not) and hot gimmick, was this made by a women because if so eek its so misogynistic just eek there are other popular shoujo manga i dont like but dont want to make this post to long biggrin

Skip Beat. I read about 14 volumes or so and never returned. The pacing is glacial and there's too much filler. It started out really funny and engaging but started to meander into unnecessary subplots more often than not.
Also, Perfect Girl Evolution. One of the most pointless mangas ever! No semblance of a plot and really bad amateurish art with zero backgrounds. How it actually became popular remains one of the world's most mind boggling puzzles to me confused

Perfect Girl Evolution is the the first thing that comes to mind, but really most long running shojo are boring or bad. I didn't feel that way when I was younger, though. So, hopefully all those pubescent/teenage girls taste will also mature with time.

On the side note, I find that old shojo mangas are much better. (ex. Basara)

Anything that involves an average girl "suddenly" getting the hottest guy in the school....seriously?!?! confused When the hell does that ever happen? And then her "best friend" all of a sudden wants to make this a love triangle. Too damn complicated imo. dead

Too many examples, so it's just a waste of my time. roll eyes

I'll just become some yaoi fangirl(or whatevz), maybe i'll find something INTERESTING for once.

Quite a few actually:

Ouran (etc., etc. Host Club or something)
Vampire Knight
S•A
Black Bird

Also, a few others I most likely missed... I don't know, it just doesn't captivate me. I simplycant commit to any of these series.

Pretty much that ^

I grew sick of shoujo manga shortly after I started reading them. I've tried most of the really popular ones, and they either bore me or disgust me. Kaichou wa Maid-sama is super popular, right? The kind of arrogant male lead it has completely turned me off. I don't understand how girls are supposed to go ga-ga over characters like him.

For me, it's more of a question of "Are there any shoujo manga that I do like?", and the answer is actually yes. I like quite a few. But not nearly as many as I've tried and hated.

I heard that Strobe Edge is pretty popular, but I just didn't like it. It was mostly because of the lead character, though. I didn't like Bokura ga Ita or Kimi ni Todoke either

Okay dokey- I'm the type that don't like popular stuff too that much and here they are:
-Vampire Knight (urrgh, just looking at it...)
-Hana Kimi & Peach Girl (I read it since I had a hardcopy access)
-Perfect Girl Evolution
-Shinshi Doumei Cross
-Hana Yori Dango
-Lovely Complex
-Any Watase Yuu's mangas
-Bokura Ga Ita
-Kare Kano
-Hwang Mi Ri's manhwas
-Kouko Debut
-Now this one:WATASHI NI XX SHINSHAI (?sorry about the wrong spelling)
-For some reason, I half liked Kaicho wa Maid sama & Special A

The ones I disagree that some don't like:
-Skip Beat
-Shugo Chara
-Ouran High
-Midnight Secretary
-NANA & Paradise Kiss

...the list goes on and on lol

Vampire knight : read only first 2 volumes.

skip beat: I can't handle snail pace romance that only serves as a means to keep readers hooked. Sure the main plot isn't about romance but still no

Edit : Oh, and Hana Yori Dango.
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
i read a spoiler about who she will hook up with in the end
and i was repulsed, couldn't continue reading it.
