tchh, linux fan boy. You should know full well how difficult it is to use linux. I want to print something from a printer, but oh, it's not compatible, so I have to go online to find a linux driver...and oh what? it doesn't exist, now i can't even use the printer anymore. mad

tchh, windows fan boy. You should know full well how annying it is to use windows. I want to start my PC, but oh, there's a bluescreen, so i have to restart the whole thing....and oh what? It says file x0000003456 is missing, now i can't even use the whole pc anymore. mad

You probably got some nasty nasty malware that corrupted your system files....or you just deleted some very essential files.

That malware file is called Hal.dll.
It needs to get deleted.
Oh, wait. It does it automatically!

Ubuntu.

When my windows died and I couldn't get the old setup disk to work I installed ubuntu out of desperation. Fell in love and have been running it alone ever since. Only problem I really have with it is trying to play online mmo's but it's pros outweigh cons.

Nevertheless, people need to stop complainign about the BSOD. Not once has it happened to me (on my PC).
You can't blame the OS for the error. It's there for a reason. It's telling you that there's something wrong with the PC. Without it, you might as well go "WTF?" when your comp goes wrong and nothing happens.

yeah laugh

It would be weird if Windows just goes poof without even a blue screen.

Doesn't make me smile and and laugh jovially no matter
what erotic literature on a pink screen it
shows when it blows up. :/

I'll still throw it into some badger's nest.

Linux all the way, I had Vista for a while but I just couldn't handle it. I've never used any OS before that used so much system resources to do so little, and managed to run really slow even on the most powerfull computer setup.

I use Ubuntu atm but am playing around with Arch also.

And when you learn how linux works it isn't really that hard to use, just because it isn't a clone of windows doesn't mean it's not user friendly.

I really want to like linux, but it doesn't seem to like any of my hardware. If it isn't my video card, it's my keyboard. If it isn't my keyboard it's my motherboard. I like XP because it will run on just about any kind of hardware. I've got it running smooth on this custom machine with a 10 year old mobo and 300 MB RAM. Ubuntu won't even install. Yes, I'm aware there are various other versions of linux I can try that might work, but I don't want a slimmed down version of ubuntu or debian or red hat.

That said, I like using ubuntu for my file server. No point in wasting hundreds of dollars on a crappy frankenstein server.

I use Linux for work and Windows for leisure. Can't say that I prefer one over another.

Ubuntu and XP. So I took my roommate's Ubuntu CD to mess around with it and accidentally wiped the Vista off of my disk. Ever since then, I've been using Ubuntu with XP on VirtualBox. And believe me, it's much simpler than Windows. Actually, after seeing the way Microsoft is going with user interface with the new Windows 7, I'm going to use a dual-boot on my next computer.

i run windows 7 x64(which is awsome) at home and have a macbook for work. Ive always used windows since 3.11. i got my mac to learn osx for work purposes(i work in IT) and while i love the OS the lack of comparable software really puts a downer on using it full time. Im stuck using windows until i can get active-x support, they make mirc for osx(lol), and i can get a picture viewing program that reads zip files(<3 AcdSee) for my manga smile

two readers that read zips as well as rars for the mac:
http://www.feedface.com/projects/ffview.html FFView, which I use, and...
http://jomic.sourceforge.net/ Jomic

as for mIRC, if you are dependent on the scripts that work with mIRC then I can't help you. But if not, I recommend X-Chat Aqua; http://sourceforge.net/projects/xchataqua/

and maybe take a look at http://opensourcemac.org/ for programs you are missing.
