Finally the fight, i hope, just kill off sasuke and the manga will improve a billion times (if naruto doesn't go sad and depressed for a thousand arcs after)...

Then again who knows...

Either way don't kill the little hope us readers have please mashashi kishimoto. You go from Naruto (title of manga) to Sasuke (yes, I feel it being the title of the manga), finally Naruto...hmmm

So, I'm going to go in the opposite direction as everyone. I think (well, it's more like hope) that Naruto will finally convince Sasuke to stop being evil and all. Let's face the facts here, in order for Naruto to become Hokage, he has to do what everyone else before him couldn't. He's got to stop his friend from going down the wrong path which Jiraiya and the Third couldn't do with Orochimaru. I think we're actually going to see the resolution to this whole Sasuke betrayal nonsense. Plus, Naruto is going to need some serious help verse Madara. And you just know that Team 7 is going to have to get back together to beat him and lead to Sasuke's redemption..

In all honesty, the people who are saying Naruto should kill Sasuke really aren't thinking about Naruto's character or the story. In fact, I'd be pissed if he killed Sasuke. Not because I think he is a cool character (I like some aspects and hate other parts of him), but because Naruto's ultimate dream is to bring an end to war, just like it was for Jiraiya. That's why you don't seem him killing any of the bad guys. All the side characters end up dirtying their hands to do it (Even in Kakazu's case it is Kakashi who delivers the final blow). I'd also like people to REALLY think about some of the stuff they are saying. Could you kill your best friend? It's easier to say that Naruto should kill his best friend because this is a story, but if you actually think about it, this would never be an easy act to do. My best friend could kill someone and I'd I know that I might actually try and help him escape the law, I mean, you never really know how you would respond in a situation like this until you're actually in it (which is going to be incredibly rare).

In regards to Sakura, I'd say the same thing still applies. You think it would be easy to kill the guy you were in love with (or, I should probably use the past tense loved)? No way. Love drives us to do very unlogical and irrational things. If Sakura had killed Sasuke, I'd have dropped reading this manga instantly. It would completely ruin the story. Also, I'm pretty sure that Sakura will end up with Naruto in the end. It's going to be how Kakashi's group should have turned out, with Obito getting the girl as he deserved her and not Kakashi (at that point in time). You can see signs of her caring more and more for Naruto and seeing how he's done everything he possibly can for her, will eventually win her over.

The person who will get shafted in Naruto is definitely going to be Hinata. Which sucks, but hey, someone has to lose out. Thanks for reading the rant.

Sidenote: Rainy Days post also made me lol. Sometimes I wish I was that clever.

QFT. I agree with everything you said regarding Naruto and Sasuke (and also Sakura). I'm not going to lie, I've been hoping for Sasuke's death for the longest time, but I know that Naruto killing Sasuke would go against his character. He can't. He doesn't just want to be like any other Hokage, he wants to be the greatest. How can become the greatest if does what any other Hokage would do? Saving people from the brink of evil, when they seem unsavable, is his M.O. I still hope Sasuke dies in the series, but I would be disappointed if it was by Naruto's hands.

On a side note, I like how the Karin hate has, for the most part, stopped now that she has shown to be one of the more reasonable characters.

I like this post, and I mostly agree with it ... but, I also think it highlights one of the reasons people debate so much about this manga. You're right, none of us can imagine Naruto or Sakura just straight-up killing their one-time best friend -- but you could argue that we actually should be able to imagine it pretty easily.

Let me try and explain what I mean more clearly: I think the author deliberately put himself into a difficult spot by making "good guy ninjas." When you think about it, Naruto, Sakura, Hinata, Chouji, and all the other beloved, teen-angsty, Narutoverse characters are professional killers. They entered professional killer school as adorable little five-year olds. As nice and fatherly as Iruka-sensei acts, his job in the manga is taking little tiny kids and training them up to be professional soldiers and assassins.

When they are eleven or twelve the main characters all graduate and go out to work full time on the "missions" that are the foundation of Konoha's economy. And let's face it, most of the missions presumably don't involve weeding gardens and helping nice old guys build bridges. They seem to be more: hunting someone down to assassinate them; guarding someone from assassins; stealing things; spying; precision military strikes; etc.

We have to assume that off-screen, every one of the main characters spends a typical week stabbing and beheading rival ninjas before knocking off work at five to spend their hard earned stabbing-and-beheading money on some delicious ramen. Even useless-ass Sakura has presumably racked up a decent body count offscreen during the time-skip. In this version, Saskue isn't an oddity because he's a psycho killer. He's an oddity because he turned against his village.

Putting it another way: if you're the author, you kind of have to thread your way between choices:

1) You can make a ninja-verse where fights end with the loser captured or beaten up, but rarely or never killed (like half the shounen mangas out there). Then the story doesn't have much tension and the stakes seem pretty low, but the good guys are clearly the good guys.

or

2) You can make your ninjas be ninjas, so everyone's a stone killer (Legend of Kamui style). But then you are writing a more adult style manga where every character is ambiguous and morally compromised and the whole thing is murky shades of grey.

I love this manga and I like the way the author threads his way between both versions, making the ninja world fairly dark while letting Naruto and co. clearly be the heros. That said, sometimes the seams show - like Naruto lucking out and never having to kill anyone on a mission, or all of our heros being fortunate enough to survive their jobs for years at a time.

I guess I'm saying that the author set himself a challenge. I like how he's dealing with it, even though I can see what he's trying to do.

Hmm...I think I want to get in on the "Who will kill Sasuke?" speculation. Let me first say that I read A LOT and I hold a special place in my heart for hokey, mushy, quasi tragic endings. I envision Sasuke's end coming at his own hand as he saves Team 7. Oh yes, I can see it in my crystal ball: Sasuke receives a reality check about himself and his vaulted Uchiha clan via Itachi's "gift" to Naruto. He will mull over this after Madara comes and breaks up the little party that is going on now. Now this "mulling" period can last as long as Kishimoto needs it to. Madara seems like the true, mad, nut job of this story and Sasuke will eventually see that he is but a pawn on the proverbial chess board. When he realizes his blunder he will sacrifice himself as he removes Madara and the taint of the Uchiha clan from the Land of Fire. And the big kicker...Itachi shows up to usher his little brother into the after life. Isn't that just...icky?

I still don't see Sakura with Naruto even though she stood up for him--she has been doing that for awhile now so it did not seem out of the ordinary. I just do not want to think that Kishi would crush my poor little Naruto/Hinato loving heart. A Naruto/Sakura pairing would be tantamount to the travesty that Rowling pulled with the Hermione/Ron hook up--eww dammit, it gave me chills. Anyway; Sakura seems to like a certain amount of dominance, arrogance and aloofness to her man--maybe Neji would be a better fit for her. When you take into account Neji's freaky eyes and noble birth how could Sakura possibly resist?

Oh well, I can only dream. I do like the current turn of events--it feels natural instead of forced like the whole Killer Bee/Kisame dust up. Can't wait for next week.

After chapter 485 i say naruto is going to use the same sealing techniques the third and foruth hokage used. Both him and sasuke will be gone.

Its out now. Naruto and Sasuke are finally fighting but it seems that Naruto is still not willing to kill him. He'll never be Hokage at this rate.

Anyone else thinks the fog is going to clear and Naruto pants are going to be down?

Naruto is going to use the crow... what is going to happen? who knows... maybe a body change... with would suck

I agree that naruto will never kill sasugay but I'm hoping he gets killed anyway. I see as naruto save naruto from madara at the last minute sacrificing himself in the process.

Sasuke just needs a serious ass whooping to take him of this superman pedestal that he’s been sitting on for the last few fights he’s had since itachi. The eight tails fight didn’t end with a victor so I’m counting that as a draw. Maybe if he lost an arm or eye or something after fighting at the kages meeting or against danzo I would have been happy, but atm I’m really bored of him making every one else look extremely weak. I really hope that the border-line pansy naruto does do some serious damage to him in the next fight cause we now he’s not going to kill him as that would mess up the story line. eek
