I liked the other favorite group thread better.
I think my favorite group right now is actually Solaris... there are lots of groups that have projects that I like a little more, but the translations that I've seen from Solaris are top notch and they have good edits to match, which is important to me, as one of those old timer 'quality matters' people. There are lots of other groups that I read regularly, though... rycola (I love sports, too), ncis, illuminati... but if a group has bad translations, I just note the manga and read the original version. Takes a little less time, but it's worth it for the lack of headaches.
I don't wanna mention groups I don't like, but there are some that just keep on picking up *great* projects that I can't even begin to read through because of the horrible translations/scans/edits. And what's worse, these great projects don't have any readers (I assume because no one knows what the hell is going on). If a good group had claimed them first, they'd be raking in the downloads. It's truly a pity.
Honorable mention goes to both Omanga and MangaScreener 'cause I love them for breaking the mold before breaking the mold was cool. History's important, my friends.

My favorite manga scanlation groups are Nagare-boshi, StarryHeaven, Shoujo Crusade, Aerandria, Shoujo Manga Maniac, Intercross, Ivyscan, Divine Sanctuary, ShoujoMagic and among others.

There's quite a few groups that have one or two projects I really like, but if I was forced to choose just one favorite it would probably be Solaris-SVU. Not only do they currently have the highest number of titles that are on my reading list, but their quality is second to none.

My favorites would be the following.
SleepyFans - Their speed at getting new Bleach chapters up is incredible
Dynasty Scans - slow sometimes, but I love their yuri releases
SnoopyCool - releases some good stuff
Franky House - quickest to get new Claymore out usually, and does a good job with it.
Meep-Scans - I like a few of their manwha
SCX-Scans - have picked up some good stuff

The groups I have the biggest respect for are:
SnoopyCool : I love their current and finished titles.
Hawks : Because of their work on Berserk
Manga Sketchbook : BOTI, Vagabond, Dangu and Claymore
Guyver Advocacy Group : Guyver!!!!!
Evil Genious : They scan 2 of my favourite titles namely Berserk and Zetman
KMTS : I love their Manhwa
Rippers : BAA
MangaTranslation : Was totally awesome, til they dropped scanning their titles, trans
Franky House : Steady scans that you can rely on, OP, Claymore, etc....
Sleepy Fans : Fastest Naruto and Bleach scans
M7 : HQ Bleach
Whatever : HQ Gantz, One Piece and Claymore
Japflap : Naruto

Even though I work for Project Kurai Ryu...I'm not sure that's my favorite scanlating group...I really like other ones, like:
SnoopyCool
FrankyHouse
SleepyFans
but in general, there are few series I read scanlated, since I do most of them raw, lol.

At the moment I would say Snoopycool, mangascreener, Kotnoha, kmts for groups with projects I like. There are others but these have really stood the test of time.
The groups whose quality I like don't really release much these days...
I die a little bit inside when I see all the people mentioning Sleepyfans they can die in a giant hole drowning in their own faeces. Bad translations, horrible horrible horrible edits the only thing they have is speed and even then before all the drama with Binktopia happened they were often beaten to the punch with a superior product.

Uh... Kotonoha, Ivyscan, Wings of an Angel - great quality. Plus, good projects, especially Kotonoha.
And I must mention Wingtip Cafe, the group I proofread for. Their projects are warm and fuzzy for those of you who like that genre, and their quality has gotten much better since they first started.
