Mine is empty, going to refill it soon.
Never really gets to the half state, I usually drink it in one go (small glasses).

Besides that, it all depends on your point of view (click to enlarge):

this one is from another forum... yeah, we did this poll a very long time ago and it's not just between half full and half empty
Quote
Pessimist: The glass is half empty.
Optimist: The glass is half full.
Idealist: The glass should be full.
Realist: The glass is.
Pragmatist: Lets drink the water.
Feminist: His glass seems more full than my glass.
Nihilist: The glass does not matter.
Chemist: The glass has 50% H2O, 40%N2 and 10%O2.
Environmentalist: Save the water.
Anarchist: Let’s break the glass.
Capitalist: I will sell this glass.
Survivalist: The glass is certainly not full and it should be constantly monitored for any chance of it running out.
Hedonist: I wonder if it'll spill out if I do this?
Kleptomaniac: What glass? There wasn't a glass here. I don't know what you're talking about. I have to leave now.
Apathist:......................................
Materialist: glass?? give me crystal.

I chose half full. Since I "fill" glasses up more than "emptying" them. So I'd consider it half-way full until I completely fill it to the top.

Joentjuh and mu2020 have forgotten the engineer (who thinks the glass has twice as much material than it needs).

Sorry; I've known that lame joke forever because of my brother ^^; I have no idea if it entertains anyone who doesn't understand engineer-type humour.

This is, of course, is the absolute truth.
Full = 100%
Empty = 0%

The half of full = 100% / 2 = 50%
The half of 'empty' = 0% / 2 = 0%

Therefor anything 'half empty' is the same as 'empty'. Assuming the glass (of any size or shape) is filled to exactly 50% capacity, it is half full.

Your definition only concerns itself with the degree of fullness. If however a degree of emptiness is added that rises simultanously to the decrease of the degree of fullness, a state of half empty is very much possible:

Full = 100% full, 0% empty
empty = 0% full, 100% empty

If a definition only concerned itself only with the degree of emptiness on the other hand, then the state of half full would seem impossible.

I'm amazed the Engineer's Point of View wasn't in this -> "The Capacity of the Glass is double the matter contained in it."

BTW, I'm an engineer and for the likes of me this was a really really old joke...

P.S. Yes, these options would have made this poll more interesting... though there still wouldn't be any point in keeping this poll...

I'd say the question was intentionally not specified too much to not unnecessarily restict the creativity of the answers.
