I envy you all. I wish I could buy some, but there aren't even any shops nearby my place, and I don't have the capacity to buy one online...

Man, my eyes are all sore because of this computer screen *goes dl some manga again*

I think I just reached over 100 manga yet sadly I have no bookshelves. I started collecting in November 2003 in tenth grade. I started reading in manga in eighth grade. I brought them at the con I go to, several from bookstores and most of them online.

Edit
Note: None of books I acquired are from Del Rey, CMX or Viz. None are Shoujo and I have one manwha.

I buy some. But only those I find "worthy". Like Naruto and Berserk. However lots of'em aren't for sale yet in my country, so I buy'em at outland. Those I've baught until now are: Naruto, Berserk, Death Note, Claymore, Bleach, One Piece, DB and Hellsing. But I plan on bying Vagabond, Battle Royale and Parhaps Gantz as well. +++ However I'm not the richest man in the world so it would take some time biggrin

I buy what I like, It's easier than pulling out a DVD, putting it in the computer, opening it, etc. etc.
Right now, I'm up to 100 vols or so, with 5 complete series, 4 series that are still running, and a bunch of assorted stuff that came from the closeout bin, or caught my attention. I have several (300+) scanlatiions, which I get, because noone will license them, as they don't want to take the chance, even if they are wildly popular in Japan.
Then there are the ones that sell in limited amounts that are dicontinued. I hate it when they shut off in the midle of a series. And badly translated or are completely rewritten to "appeal to the American taste"
feh. It's all in making a lot of money.

Mostly I download the newest manga that I like and to checkout some series. But for some series that I like, I buy them since it's comfortable for me to read it anywhere without looking at the computer screen.
For buying, I use:
Dreamland Comics
AnimeXing
But lately I switched over to AnimeXing for all my manga since they have subscription base manga. It's pretty much the same with what Dreamland has but AnimeXing includes all manga to the subscription. Like some people said, Dreamland quality is declining. Their shipment is kinda sporadic

I buy several titles. Del Rey gets the bulk of my money since they adapted a policy of including Japanese honorifics in the translations. The added bonus of translator notes are icing on the cake, not to mention that in some of the titles I'm collecting from them, they've really allowed themselves to become very fan friendly. Negima! is a chief example of this.

I buy some TP titles, but only if they are done the way I want. Furuba is one of their best-done titles.

And I do buy Oh My Goddess (even own the first 10 tankoubons) from Dark Horse. They've come a long way too now that the re-translations remove much of the domestication and the new stuff appears to keep the domestication down.

I do own manga: volume one of Akira. bigrazz
It's a translation in my native language and it costed me €13 (16.25USD). And it's about the only one they sell in my language. the rest is in french and hard to find. I know only one shop that sells them and it's far away.
I'm a high schooler so I don't have much money and thanks to some stupid law I'm to young to find a job.

I own about 150 manga volumes, which I have collected over these past 3 years. Incredible, eh? >_> I had a job, though not anymore, plus I'm attending a boarding school. It's hard to find the money for my beloved hobby now, and it's even more difficult when I live so far away from any source of cheap manga. Also the shipping cost is rather high, because I live in (EU) Denmark. Therefore if I buy manga via the net, it'll often cost me €20 or US$25,2 per book! Even I think that that's rather expensive...
But I try to buy manga as often as possible, so that I can support the mangakas that I favor.

Since I'm new, I haven't bought any, but there are some I'd like to buy.

I've seen them at the library, and started checking out.

As I mentioned, I like to color the scans, but I don't think I could color a $10 book. Now, if they took the nicer pieces from manga and made a coloring book, I'd buy that to color. But I like for people to be awarded for their work, so when I get some money, I'm going to buy some of my favorites to have on my shelf and reread and share.

I do! I buy alot manga from usa. Sadly I'm getting tired of it..."why?" you ask? I'll tell you why.

First; I pay about 2xprice to get them here in Denmark cuz of the shipping...but I'm okey with that since getting it for the same price would be a tad weird. I can't use the amazon cuz they got a habit of destroying the corners on my manga.

Second; The censoring and editing part as they may see fit....yeah lots of manga releasing compnaies are getting a edited/censored as they (the companies) see fit and then they release thinking that ppl will say Nada to it. I'm getting tired of this cuz I can't look at the raws and the english edition everytime I buy manga to see if it's edited/censored or not. I expect them to release the manga just as they did in japan but with english translation nothing less and nothing more. If they can't do that then they shouldn't have licensed it in the first place. I'm expecting to get to get what I paid, especially when I paid about 2xprice, not something that they edited/censored because they thought it was funny to license a serie full of sex/nudity and then start changing it....thats not the original anymore but something else...something I didn't pay for when I ordered it.

Yeah I sound like I'm pissed about it I know...but I'm, like I said before, getting totally annoyed and tired of being screwed by the manga releasing companies. It's getting more appealed to forget the have in hand feeling you have when buy a book and get the scans instead or just learn japanese and get the Japanese edition.
