Yes, I guess there is a bug with the PM system for normal users... If Manick sees the suggestion Vince made in the suggestion forum, he might fix it quickly. (Since it works already for us, it shouldn't be a hard to fix)
And as Vince said, it would have been better to make a thread in the bug forum... instead of resurrecting this thread.
Yeah, but it was on my mind for a long time already.. and that question was just the one that needed the most 'hurry' at the moment, I guess..
Anyways, I've also wondered about:
1) Are there any rules with PM'ing people..?
2) What are the 'limits' of the Mod's power..?
3) And also how were the current Mods chosen..?

It can not be masturbation, for there is only one you.. The clone only has the same appearance, not thoughts..

1)Yes there are rules. The same as with everything. No one wants to receive PM's advertising stuff... you can report them. Or threats. Or flaming etc...
In short someone annoys you, drop the convo... if he keeps up... report him. easy.
2)They are limitless! pH34r us!
3)I don't know about the others... But for my case, it was a cloudy day... the clouds parted... and a single ray of light fell on me... and I heard the voice of Manick... And then... I knew I was chosen. I felt this incredible increase in power. I was able to do, and see stuff I never dreamed off before...
Yes, it's incredible...

Oh man, I loved that story, Stealth!
As an example of our powers, we can post in locked threads...(yeah, like no one knew that already...)
And actually, there ARE different levels of admins. Basically, every member has certain permission settings. Regular members can use the forum and add releases/series. One step higher is to EDIT existing series. Then there's forum mod. Then the special admin settings...The newest admins can only do the basic admin functions, while I (as a more veteran admin) have more powers.
Each power is basically a check box, but only Manick is able to change those settings
If anyone's wondering, this is Manick's original pm to me when I became an admin:
Quote I've noticed that you've been helping out a lot around here lately, adding lots of releases and series. I just wanted to say thanks on behalf of the Baka-Updates staff!
I also wanted to know if you would be interested in joining us in a more official manner. Basically, this would give you access to the admin/series pages so that your releases wouldn't have to wait in a queue. It really wouldn't be any different from what you are doing right now, but without all the hassle!
Let me know what you think!

And thats how I became the Sheriff around these parts, with Stealth coming in later on as my Deputy (In charge of torture. Seriously, don't screw with him!).
A short time later, I started adding updates to the database, and split duties between moderation and database management.
This was all after my first original contribution, which was my Hajime no Ippo review, along time ago. It's still up, if anyone wants to read it.

I'll probably regret this later (knowing you people...), but I'm reopening this thread.
Do not let it go back to the way it originally was right before we locked it the first time (which broke a number of rules, including a illegal 18+ discussion that Stealth didn't mention as a reason before)

Wow, admin's are really all powerful, they can predict the future.

Alright, now I remember! Since you've never had to ban anyone before, I'm assuming it takes a lot. So, what are reasons that would get someone banned?

And does anyone have a FAQs for idiots for mIRC? Seriously.. I still haven't figured everything out.. it took me 6 months to learn how to register a nick.. and that was 'cause some nice guy helped me. (and yes, I read the FAQs for it.. and still )
