I love both of those to death. =D Favorites of mine.
Another favorite would have to be the bad-ass type. Not the perverted bad-ass, but the plain ol' bad-ass. =D

My favourite types are:
1) the girls who have some brains and who can stand up for themselves and won't just burst out into tears and hope for their prince to come. example: the girl from Five
2) the guys who are kind to the main heroine but doesn't end up with her for some odd reason >.< go underdogs! example: Yuuhi from Ceres

1. I like villains and bad guys. (boys and girls)
2. Intelligent and an idealistic people. (boys and girls)
3. Very strong girls. (girls) I hate when they put them very weak.  I do now why but the male characters don't have this poblem (normally).

I love the characters who are adorably awkward, but then they end up being really really good at something and everyone is taken by surprise. Like Matsuri from Matsuri special, how she is good at sports, or in Tokyo Crazy Paradise when the main girl is good at fighting, or Kyoko in Skip Beat (shes good at acting and cooking).
I also love the girls who are main characters but DON'T fall had over heels in love with someone right away (or ever.) I hate when they blush over the slightest thing.

I like, how do you say.. Ice queen? Does it go for guys as well?
Well, they are not really warm towards other people, although kind?~
It makes me laugh, the things those characters do.. Funny, but they didn't mean it  <<<(messed up explanation~)
And the types that are funny and cute (that look carefree), but beneath the surface are serious and caring~
Can I say which onces I hate?^^
-Stupid shoujo , that fall in love and don't see that the guys loves them/think he only sees them as a friend or something and don't bother to confirm or confess or anything~
-Shoujo who are raped, and then falls in love.
-And.. Every other character that does not have a brain...

I love the ones who are super-cheerful and carefree, but are sweet, kind, compassionate, and understanding. Usagi Tsukino and Tohru Honda (although she can be a little too kind) are some of the best examples And also very determined characters who will stop at nothing to fulfill their dreams. Examples: Mitsuki Koyama from Full Moon wo Sagashite, Maya Kitajima from Glass no Kamen.
