umm.... well, I played my first visual novel by accident many years ago (True Love for those who knows about old VN games, or Dating Sims, with i also count as VN, btw) and I have been hook ever since. It is not that i have play a lot of them, but i have gotten my hands in a few good ones . I avoid those that are pure H :S
My favorite one has to be Kana Imouto. I haven't found any game more dramatic than that one, with sorta a good life lesson (My favorite endings being 5 and "Out of the maze", if you are interested ).
I started playing Umineko resently, and I am also finishing Ever17 (a good scifi VN).

Hi Dincu if your looking for a good visual novel that isnt a hentai novel i suggest checking out the higurashi no naku koro ni and umineko no Naku Koro ni novels that are made up of 4 question and answer novels each. There both revolve around a dark mystery that will have you wanting to read more with each visual novel you read.

I have played Date Warp and Re-Alastair++ and liked them, but I'm having a hard time finding free with-good-quality-with-english-sub visual novel.

I read Japanese, so I've played quite a few non-hentai dark fantasy VNs and like them very much. If there were fan translations for more of the darker non-hentai VNs, I would love to join. My group is doing a dark one, but it is dual language, so English and Japanese at the same time.
