It's always good to have a dose of reality in your manga. Yes, many people read manga to escape the real world, but that is what manga set in science fiction or other worlds are for. For manga like Suzuka that are based in the real world and don't have a fantastical on sci-fi bent I feel it is better to hold fairly close to reality and have an awesome plot, which Suzuka did. I've stated my opinion about the ending a couple times earlier in this thread, so if you haven't read them yet and want to, you can find it there.

On a side note, this thread seems to rear it's head everytime I weem to think it rested and nicely put to bed. roll

i thought that the ending was bittersweet. Yeah it was happy, but i was depressed because it was painful that they

had to change their plans for the future not being able to use their god given talents to further themselves. it made me sad to see them have to give up their dreams. but i guess dreams change. maybe i am just projecting myself a little to much into a story this time.

Ah, I totally agree. I just finished the manga recently so i still got a fresh view of it in my head. I agree that the fact they changed there priorities after finding out Suzuka was pregnant a depressing matter. I by no means what them to have gotten an abortion, but to not attend college was just an absurd idea. Maybe they wouldn't have been able to fund the process of raising the child but im sure they woulda worked something out. A much better solution than what they have done.

a lot of why the ending was that ending was because the parents were not going to help all too much. (or not at all) basically their options were work or an abortion. they didnt have the finances to handle both, now the parents were testing the two of them but i believe that what they did was little harsh. (even though they did make an obsticle for college)

personally i liked how this ended. because it tested the two and it actually brought them closer.

ps i think that having children at a young age is a dumb idea but i dont like the idea of abortions. these two make a perfect example of parents that go throught this kind of situation. (2 thumbs up)

That was because Suzukas father thinks that Yamato isnt taking the situation seriously until he had the conversation with him. Suzuka's father NEVER said he wouldn't support him after Yamato's reply of him not going to college. Her father only said it BEFORE he heard the reply which his decisions might have changed. Also Yamato's family might seem hardheaded(especially the father) but im sure he is caring/loving. Thus leads to my conclusion that they would SUPPORT them by possibilty even taking care of the child after birth(babysitter). Also we are forrgetin Ayano. So far we dont know what she does. She owns bathhouse?, im not even sure but she definitely could babysit since it doesnt keep like she has any type of work other than taking care of miho(which is growing up quickly =P). More and more reasoning leads to me thinking that the decision they made was without putting much thought into it.
Even with all that said, I DO like the ending. But clearly I felt that it coulda been better. Im just happy the mangaka didn't go with abortion or I woulda been REALLY pissed.

I finished the series in a day. Overall, the series is very good with a quality level of realism in relationships. I just had a difficult time relating to the wispy nature of Yamato and Suzuka. Their actions were often contradictions to their though processes.

I haven't read this manga in months. I might get back to it since it's finished and won't have to wait for releases smile

It was a great ride, and the ending was satisfying. I followed it for a year, anticipating each release every week. I hated some parts of the plot in the middle where they tried to drag which made me sad, but at least the ending was original and pleasing.

Well it was more original that a lot where everything turns out exactly how the main characters wanted. They did end up together but not in the "ideal" way they were expecting. So much more original than the sappy candy coated endings of other series. And I add to the zombie effect of this thread. T^T
