yeah you have no reason to fear a book unless you're weak minded and fear that Hitler soul posses you....
or you just don't care and don't bother to read the book (and maybe you have some more useful things to do)
I'm sure many people thing the same way as Hitler before he had written the book think
so it's good to see where such thought patterns can lead you

or maybe if you're a "Might is Right" kind of person learn how to dominate without fail because failure is not an option ^^

Quote from The Guy
... considering the rise of strong populist right wing political parties in Europe....otherwise they may recognise the similarities between now and then.

well the issue is more urgent now after what happened in Oslo 2 days ago
people have forgotten the danger of playing with far right agendas and now the fire have spread
at first people didn't care as long as these fanatical zealots targeted immigrants and flamed and trolled the web but now it's too late ....

Not very convincing, considering you spelled "hiding" wrong in your comments on both of the threads. But, it is true.

You don't need to nitpick on his spelling.

I'll be reading this comic soon but the amount of uproar doesn't surprise me. However to me, many of the "leaders" of history have been involved with acts of violence that qualified as genoicide or mass murder.

Hitler took it to a new level though and he also manipulated mass media(television) and used soap operas and the like, to distract the citizens while he went about with his plans. I recall that he managed to manipulate mankind's apathy and used it for his advantage. He even took advantage of the problems caused by 20th century army structure to instill obedience in everyone who had to partake in military youth groups and the like.

Btw, this comic was released in a collection which consisted of other books(or possibly manga adaptions) like Tolstoy's War and Peace, and so on. If I recall, those who bought this collection were asked to read through everything and think for themselves or something like that. bigrazz

There is an incredible amount of closed-mindedness about this manga. Hitler was not the only terrible leader in our history, though he took it too far. I don't know why people hate on this more than they would hate on other books that have to do with Hitler. Mein Kampf is often reading material for some university classes where I live; a manga adaptation shouldn't be treated any different from a book.

Yeah, well like people said there are many books and films about Hitler, but Mein Kampf was actually written by Hitler himself. It includes his sick ideology, which led to the belief that there are worse people and people who shouldn't even be consedered as humans but as animals. He was a very good speaker and he had a lot of charisma. Since he managed to persuade so many Germans to his ideology, it is clear that his book is just as dangerous especially for young minds. If he wasn't persuasive, why else would so many Germans follow him otherwise? And do not tell me that they weren't Germans but the Nazi, historians nowadays tend to change the facts and make Germans less at fault for the atrocities of WWII, saying that it was Nazi who were responsibile for them. Like they were completely different people, from mars or whatever. I know that not all Germans supported Hitler's national socialism, but still it was a big part of their society.

Thank God not many people have actually read this book and that it is not widely available. It was the chief book for Nazi ideology and the propaganda in III Reich. The word propaganda speaks for itself.

This is where the problem with the manga version comes - manga is popular, easily available. And since it's read mainly by children and young people who can easily come across it, such theme can be dangerous. There are people with weaker mentality who can't form their own opinions and views on life or politics, and simply adopt anything they read or watch on tv.
Such historical topics should be presented to children in a suitable way and with a proper explanation, certainly not by a comic book which always makes the subject more attractive.

Erm, I'd like to point out that Mein Kampf is available on Gutenberg as well as on many other ebook stores/resources. Heck, even Goodreads.com mentions that entry and last I checked, it'd over 2000 ratings.

Also, Amazon.com carries the book(it ranks #64 under Political and so on) and same for quite a few online/offline bookstores which ship internationally or just locally. Kinokuniya carries it too. I suspect it's somewhat popular 'cos of Hitler's notoriety and 'cos they wanted to know what he thought. Otherwise, people would just dismiss it as the works of some random madman. I've not read it, btw.

Also, interestingly, I was in elementary school when we were made to do a series of projects about Nazi propaganda including eugenics, racial policies and blah blah blah. K sure, we also did read up about Nazi atrocities too but most of my classmates were unaffected by that(even the imagery of the Holocaust) and couldn't care less. Well, whether they were coping in their own way or they really didn't give a damn... who knows. Btw, my teacher never really bothered to explain much and just let us deal with it ourselves.

Not being nazi and so on. It's quite widely known you know. I don't know if it's known in USA though. Over here in Europe it is. I've known for years but been too lazy to read it. It's even recommended a good read. LTI - Lingua Tertii Imperii bby Victor Klemperer (yes he's a jew...and from the same time even!) is also a great read. We just got in our language first now.

While Mein Kampf shows how to...well you know...LTI shows how words can hurt and even lead to actions.

Both are great books in my opinion...no I'm not nazi. I just don't accept things in life without knowing more about them. After all, the whole Germany was nazi..where did they all go after Hitler went away? So think a little and try to be as objective as possible when making a decision is how I live. bigrazz

In my honest opinion, you can't say you are against something until you truly understand what it is that you are against; otherwise, you're just a hypocrite. Hitler's regime was a perfect example of how cruel humanity can be, but the man commanded an entire nation with only words. As much as I abhor his ideologies, I can't help but wonder what he might have done had he been brought up under differentcircumstances.
His is a story of horror, tragedy, and great lessons.
