Mine traces back from primary school. When I was was year 4 (I believe it's 3rd grade??) my teacher plays the guitar. One day at mat time, she decided to make up random songs that rhyme with our names. As soon as she got to my name (which is Helen) she said, "Okay, everyone, what word rhymes with Helen?" 30 mins later.....No one could come up with one. I felt very uncomfortable sitting on the mat because my name took the longest to come up with a rhyme...My teacher finally said, "I know! Watermelon!" So then she started up the song again (from the beginning!! Agony!!) and sung,"Helen the watermelon...." I'm also short (always the shortest every year...sadly...) so that's where the word "little" comes from. And she kept singing that song for the rest of the year...

From that day onwards, my classmates called me me watermelon instead, and my friend added an extension to the song, "Helen the watermelon, you're feet are smellin' " So, watermelon became my nickname.

Some people call me 'watermelon' or 'melon', instead of my name now. I kinda like it

Maxlurifax kinda means "Clever Max" in preschool speech here in Sweden. (usualy accompanied by other words that sound funny and rime on my name like Maxlurifax Lax Tax Flax)

I used to be a part of a Warriors roleplay website, and in it I had a character called Gingerkit. Since half the people on the site had either the same name as someone else, a long, complicated name no one could remember, or weren't active enough to make their name stick in your head, everyone in the roleplay went by their main character's name. We also added an '-eh' onto the end to make it clear you were speaking to the person, not the kitty-character (because that was confusing in the beginning).

Only I thought Gingereh looked weird, and that it rolled off the tongue in an odd way, so I shortened it to just Gingeh. The Warriors site has long since died, but the name has really stuck with me - no one ever uses it, so it's my default username for pretty much everything. =)
