i'm not picky, yeah you remeber right, but as of now these are not to learn, just to listen. so it can be anything.

I'm no expert, but Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers has been praised for his bass playing, especially during his live performances (just check out any RHCP live videos on youtube.) His bass playing can overshadowed by John Frusciante's awesome guitar playing though.

Some really good bass laden songs reside in funk. But since you want heavy, try some Gojira, The Sword, DOWN, Crowbar. For non metal, try Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Strokes, The Von Bondies (Specifically It Came From Japan), Minor Threat, and Black Flag.

Actually, when i said bass heavy band, i just meant bands where the bass is prominent, so feel to bring the funk. Thanks for the suggestions, i'll start searching

Anyway good funk to start with is Sly and the Family Stone and P-Funk (Parliament Funkadelic) and Bootsy

That flea's bass playing can be overshadowed by John Frusciante's guitar playing. I think that Frusciante's playing is good, but no other contemporary bass player (except for Les Claypool [who is a little bit weird]) does what flea does. The band's sound is more centered around the rhythm of Flea's bass than the melody of Frusciante's guitar. Just my opinion though.

Ah I see. I guess that Flea being overshadowed would be just me not paying much attention to the bass. I know next to nothing about bass players, so I don't have much of an opinion as to how Flea really compares to other players, contemporary or otherwise. Good thing you pointed it out though, otherwise I'd think that Flea would be just another bass player.

Your not the only one to ignore bass players... 2nd most underrated musicians.

BTW Taira from BECK is modeled after Flea. Right down to his Stingray.
