Guns are good and all since you can shoot from afar or in close range just by pulling a trigger but I prefer swords since they don't run out of "bullets", so to speak. You can both kill someone with guns and swords but with guns, you can't kill somebody silently and with swords(or any other kind of blades) you can stab somebody in the middle of the night and nobody'll hear you. The only thing with swords are though, you can get blood all over you and need to have the skills to properly use them.

Guns. For Modern settings, of course.
We need more dakka! What's gun-kata? Is that like Dakka? Precision? What's that? Aiming? Never heard of that word.
Swords should be kept when Guns were primitive. Yes, I love swords, and how they look and stuff. But Guns are the new shiz.

i agree with you.
guns and swords both have their benefits...me personally, i like swords more.

Guns.
With a sword I'd be swinging it like a baseball bat, and even then I'd be doing it wrong because I've never played baseball.

Swords for sure much less noise always great for urban warfare but you'd dead if you get stuck against guns in a war . KATANA for me

Well, since the "other weapon" choose exist i'm going for the "Bow" i really like it. I prefer hand to hand combat but for me Bows have a special aura about them.

Depends of the manga:
Seinen -> guns. Let them taste the dangers of the adult world!
Shounen -> swords. A hero should take it close and personal!
Both swords and guns should be used in both to add some variety, but in a shounen long range weapons are mostly for support in a group fight, like an archer in a rpg (it still needs a tank) while in seinen close range should be left for a technician type of specialised fighter.
Still, ever since I read soul eater scythes take the trophy.

I love manga with swords than, I read Rurouni Kenshin and it's hard to find out any manga similar to that.
