i have noticed that in the bleach, naruto and one piece forums, the authors are always being discussed. in the cases of kubo tite and kishimoto masashi, they are always being trashed and oda eiichiro is always being praised.
to be honest, i love them all, and it seems that most other people do too. now why must we criticize so much? they are all amazing. if anything, naruto and bleach seem to be more popular than one piece, yet the authors of naruto and bleach seem to be getting more trashed on.
can somebody tell me why this is?

well, because there are elitists out there who hear that Naruto and Bleach suck, and One Piece rocks, so the just put down that biased opinion. Personally, I don't talk trash about them because they are great mangakas who have lasted more than 200 chapters, which is 4 years in WSJ. PEOPLE SHOULD JUST SAY WHAT THEY BELIEVE IN, because then, they'd have a logical reason to hate on the mangakas which we can debate about biggrin

@robbit:
From what I've seen, it seems that the bashing of the mangaka is relative to how enoyable the current storyline is. I don't know if you were lurking the MU bleach forums during the negative chapters in bleach (-108 to -97), but Kubo was receiving a lot of praise for the shift in focus to the story behind the vizards. Kubo hyped up the battle of between the vizards, captains, espada, and humans only to force the readers to read about mostly uninteresting and one-sided battles of shinigami vs. fracciones. Hence all the current bashing.

As for Kishimoto, he gets bashed primarily due to how nothing really changes (Naruto has no new moves post timeskip) with the characters and every victory that is pulled out of a character's @$$ *cough*sharingan*cough*. Not as fun to read as pre-timeskip when characters not named Naruto, Sasuke, or Shikamaru were able to contribute in come meaningful way to the outcome of a story arc.

The bottom line is that those two series aren't as fun to read as they once were, and the main person to target all of the frustrations is the mangaka.

Like Sijy said, One Piece is still fun to read enough and people are willing to voice their satisfaction with it.

I think that people tend to voice strong negative opinions when something is popular (particularly when it is considered to be overrated -- see the thread" The rating of "1" and "10"", for example). OP gets trashed too, but it happens less than for Bleach and Naruto. Although you said that Bleach and Naruto are bigger than Bleach, I only know that to be true for North America (though it likely holds in some other countries, as well). In Japan, OP is definitely the most popular current series (see http://comipress.com/article/2008/12/31/3733). Also, if you scroll through that page, you'll see that OP is likely to become WSJ's biggest series in history (for some time).

I agree with how a series is currently doing contributes a lot to praise/criticism. Also, I think the prominence of characters strongly disliked by some (e.g., Sasuke and Naruto both take a lot of criticism) tends to be another factor-- I've seen people write disapproving statements of Evangelion because of Shinji (I've barely been exposed to it, so I can't say much beyond that).

thank you all for explaining all that!
although ive been a member for a couple of months, ive only been active in the forums for about 3 weeks, so i dont remember past threads. i still enjoy all three and hope for some badass plot twists, although i only really expect them in one piece. o well - things will get better!
and Sijy, thx for mentioning hunter x hunter. youre totally right. the story is kickass but the art has gotten a bit shoddy but we can bear with it. its not his fault.
d gray man returns in april along with a new fma season!
