After I read the first volume of VK, I started to notice similarities between Yuki Sohma from FB and Kaname Kuran from VK. Just think about it!  The way they act...the way they're treated...their place in the story...
I brought it up with my sister, and she basically said 'WTF are you talkiing about?' So then I brought it up with our friend and she also disagreed.
I'm not saying they're exactly alike, just that they are similar in more ways than one. I mean, come on, I can't be the only who sees it!

No wait, I've got them mixed up - I was thinking of Zero, not Kaname ... looking stuff up ... anyway ...
I don't think Yuki and Kaname are very similar. They are both kind of the 'princes' or desired ones from their groups, but I think (from what I've read so far) their histories and motivations are very different.
And since I got things mixed up ...
Yuki vs. Zero are not similar, only maybe in light hair color.
Now Zero vs. Kyou, I think they are fairly similar. Both are outcasts from the groups they are supposed to be in. Both want to protect the heroine. Both struggle with I guess you could say 'monster forms' of themselves that the herione can quell. Both are angsty. Both aren't very sociable.
What are the similarities you see between Yuki and Kaname?

I have only seen Yuki but if you're going to ask questions like that, it would be good to post pics of both.  But then again, not posting pics narrows down the interest of the topic to people that have seen both characters. I'm not part of that group. ;)
In terms of "look-alike"s in anime and manga, I see plenty of those. An obvious one to me would Kyo from Fruits Basket and Ichigo from Bleach. They have similar characters to me even if the stories are different (drama vs. action, drama and a bit of comedy). Maybe it has to do with the identities hair colours give to characters? But I don't know if the rule complete follows when the character's hair is more of a green in the manga and then it's blue in the anime, like with Chiaki in Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne. (I think there are more drastical colour changes between anime and manga but I don't remember the examples.)

I agree with you in that they are similar. (I've finished Furuba and read all that's available of VK thus far.)
Both are rather soft-spoken and polite. It may sound weird, but the way they carry themselves is just alike. Their temperaments are rather similar, and the manipulative/cold/vampiric attitude Kaname occasionally wears is not unlike the occasional attitude Yuki slips into that I can't quite describe right now. And, when you think about it, they're in the same position. Tohru went to Kyo after helping him with his monster. And the way VK is going right now, I'm predicting that Yuuki will go with Zero after helping him lots with his vampire problem. And Yuki and Kaname fade into the background as the 'best friend' character. Hee, I wouldn't mind seeing Kaname and Yori together. x3

yup I agree to what TaiyoukaiLady said. Even though that is the obvious outcome of vk, I still can't help but root for Kanemexyuki

Maybe Kyo and Aidou, because when Aidou was younger he hated Kaname... in general, I haven't seen any of the VK cast as emotional as Kyo, except maybe Yuki.

Lol, that made me laugh, 'cause one of my friends calls it Vampire Knights a lot and I always have to correct her. 
I think Yuki Sohma and Kaname Kuran are somewhat similar, yes...they're both like the "prince" person, and gentle and sweet n stuff. And yeah, they do play similar roles in their story... I guess you're right.
