Since no one started a new topic and the "Summer" thread was turning into an HP thread, I'm sticking up a poll to see what house everyone would be.

I am Slytherin and proud. I cosplay to all of the book openings and movies, in my own costume (the tie was the hardest to make), and even sew ties for my friends and knit scarves.

I'm planning to go to the book premier in NYC this year - fully decked out of course, and will probably read the last book before going to sleep. Daddy already knows he's on baby duty that night. lol

I believe that Snape is a good guy, and was only granting Dumbledore's dying wish by putting him out of his misery without staining young Malfoy's hands. This may just be wishful thinking, but I believe that Slytherin house is not full of inherently evil people, only people who have ambitions and goals, and are not afraid to take risks to reach them...and I mean through strict business practices - not through the Unforgivables. :-P

What are you're theories on the next book, and what house are you in and why?

Props go to Otakubaybay and xShatteredSoulx for this poll/thread.

I'm for slytherin too, but mostly just because i hate the way that Rowling makes the four houses completly unequal. She might as well have gone ahead and labeld them, "very cool and noble" , "ok" , "nice but boring" and "evil"
go heardtheowl! kuddos for the cosplay

other people hace probaly thought this but R.A.B(regulus black) was actually a good guy eek , you know the locket they found in the black house that they couldnt open could that be the real one
confused
James Potter, a reletive to the Black Family eek

edit: i found this here
Quote
Ron Weasley and his family are not actually blood traitors. Let me explain: The whole relationship starts with Ron seeking out a place to sit on the Hogwarts express. He has his pet rat which is well passed expiration. But somehow this wizard family does not recognize the longevity. He is continually absent in someway whenever Harry needs him. In the Philosopher/Sorcerer’s Stone he fights the devils snare. He makes Harry go by himself to face Voldemort. Chamber of Secrets has Ron failing to join Harry in the Chamber. He traps himself on one side while Harry goes it alone. Yes, Ginny does lie in the Chamber. But as Bellatrix Lestrange indicates the pureblood deatheaters would gladly sacrifice a child for Voldemort. In Prisoner of Azkaban, Ron is confronted by the longevity of Scabbers. He supposedly hates this rat yet fanatically chases after it and is vehement in his accusation of Crookshanks. He won’t let go when a Grim or Dog grabs him and carries him to the shrieking shack. He does not want to let go when Sirius and Lupin try to show that the rat is Pettigrew. It’s almost as if he is aware of the nature of Pettigrew. Once again Ron is unavailable to assist Harry because of his newfound devotion to Scabbers. Goblet of Fire shows Runs true nature appearing. He is angry and what he sees as Harry’s betrayal. But, what is most interesting to the story is that Mr. Weasley is not present when the Deatheaters are spotted. And it takes a long time to find Harry in the woods. He alone gets separated completely from the others. Plus, Ron has a change of heart after seeing the dragons and tells Harry even though he is mad. In Order of the Phoenix, Ron does not figure a way to get away from Umbridge. Ron gets small curse of tongue tiedness to prevent his help in stopping the deatheaters. In Half Blood Prince, the most interesting things of all happens. Mrs. Weasely is horrified that Bill wants to marry a halfblood in Fleur. Not until he is damaged goods does the marriage become acceptable to Mrs. Weasely While the DA is protecting the castle with the OOTP, Ron and Ginny are the ones who are watching the room of requirement. The purebloods are guarding the purebloods. How convenient that Draco is able to get by them with the Peruvian Darkness Powder from the Weasely Twins. And the feisty and determined Ginny, relinquishes Harry quite easily in the end. A pureblood family that has remained pureblood. How can they be bloodtraitors. Ron seems is the one who drags his feet so often. He traps Harry in the Chamber of Secrets. He is angry at Harry, but tells Harry to find Hagrid whom Barty Jr. is encouraging to tell about the dragons. He is of little use at the Ministry of Magic. His family has Black lineage if you trust JKR family tree. And if you believe the statement that only Slytherin House magicals can become bad/evil. Remember, Pettigrew was a Griffyndor. And so is Ron. And Ron is the one who made the statement. And if you will notice the ominous tones of Pureblood Names: Black Lestrange Malfoy (bad act) Black Goyle Gaunt Longbottom Crouch Weasely fits right in. BTW: If you point out Neville being a good pureblood wizard. Remember her was mistreated by his pureblood family out of fear he was a squib. And, the purebloods betrayed his family by the torture curse. Deadly Hollows takes place in what should have been or will be Harry’s seventh year. That is when James and Lily fell in love. She is a muggle born of exceptional ability. So is Hermione. She fights beside him according to the prophecy. So does Hermione. And James was betrayed by his Griffyndor friend who just so happens to be close to Ron in the first three books. Perhaps, the anvil comment is a little bit unfair to those who are actually reading the books

woah well thought out
also if you switch around ollivander you get an evil lord

J.K. herself has said that while most Deather Eaters are Slytherin, not all Slytherins are Death Eaters. And I do believe that Dumbledore made Snape swear to kill him so Draco wouldn't have to. That was why he was begging in the end. Not for mercy, but for death, he probably knew aobut the poison.

According to Sirius, Regulus did indeed try to get out, and I think that he took the locket with him. I also think that it is the same locket they found in the house, and while this is mere speculation, I think Kreacher took it and gave it to a trustworthy relative. Anyone understand what I'm saying? If you guessed Narcissa, or any Malfoy, congratulations.

I'll post more theories later...
(You'll never get me to shut up)

And Kaerfehtdeelb? I could go in depth on that article you posted, but I don't have time right now, so I'll just ask if you've heard the Hermione theory.

Oh, yes, since I only just remembered, what does everything think about the bar keep of the Hogs' Head being Dumbledore's brother? This is merely an idea of mine, but in the fourth book, Dumbledore says Aberforth got into a bit of trouble for casting illegal spells on a goat (or doing something illegal to a goat), and in the fifth, when Moody shows harry the picture of the original Order of the Phoenix, Aberforth is shown in it. Also, in the fifth book when Harry enters the Hog's Head, he says the barkeep looks familliar.

He was a grumpy-looking old man with a great deal of long gray hair and beard. He was tall and thin and looked vaguely familiar to Harry.

The above description was taken from page 336 of the hardcover edition of the Order of the Phoenix. Well, what do you think? Aberforth, maybe?

The one where Harry isn't the one the prophecy meant, but Hermione is. The reinterpretted it for her.

Slytherin beats all!.

We all know what Harry's problem is. He's got a total anger management because of his past. Now he seeks to destroy anything that he sees as unfitting to the 'righteous' and 'honorable' of his 'heroic adventure'....

OMG. Can we turn this into a Ron-bashing thread? Because I SO TOTALLY HATE Ron Weasley. I like his twin brothers, and even Ginny is pretty cool, as well as his Mom and Da, but I really think Ron is such a wimp, and just riding along on Harry's coat-tails. (Is that one word or two?)

And I have yet heard of this Hermione theory. Are you saying that Hermione is the one the prophecy is about? But how can that be? Is her birthday in July also? And it can't be, because both of her parents are Muggles and have never betrayed Voldemort (since they never even heard of wizards until Hermione, most likely).

Before you people go crazy may I remind you that although HP is now read by all sorts of people, When JK wrote it at first it was intended to be a children's story. So you may not want to accept but although the plot and events can be completely unpredictable and mature the overall themes and messages will be meant for children so to analyze this book the way that some of you are trying to do just will never work. For instance the Gryffindoe/Slytherin disparity : yes although she makes it Black and white at the beginning that slytherin=evil , gryffindor=bad later on possibly due to the popularity of the first bok with all ages she incorporates subtleties that let us know that slytherin isn't all bad and gryfinndor isn't pure good. While these are not very many and sometimes obscure since she needs to maintain her themes they exist. So I think first analyze it with the thinking that she is writing this for children so the surface won't contain anything extremely deep.
Just my 2 cents biggrin

Thanks heardtheowl for starting the topic! ^_^

Anyway, I chose Ravenclaw cuz Grifffindor is too goody-goody for me and I didn't want to be someone boring or known for evilness. I think Ravenclaw is a good mix of both. Sort of ^_^'''

Very interesing theory, SS! ^_^ That's the first time I heard that smile And it does sound very reasonable eyes

Oh, and did anyone know that the Black family is related to the Weasley family? eek
Source: Here, just read the first bullet.

EDIT: I stick to my theory about Snape being a bad guy. There's just no way he could be anything but! Maybe there is some way to get me to change my mind (besides the 7th book bigrazz ), but it'd have to be something like why Dumbledore trusts Snape so damn much.
