Vampire Knight I've tried, but can't read anymore XDDD, just become confuse and i lost the interest

Yuki Kaori mangas, they're bizarres, i kinda liked Angel Sanctuary, but the reading is horrible, i mean there is a lot of little things to read besides dialog, and the way of her histories just leave me bored, i haven't finished AS bigrazz

Ah sad ...i like Wallflower, is funny, but i agree that seems a never ending history XDD

Fruits Basket <--This manga is too overrated in my school....Bleh
Kaichou wa Maid-sama <--Too meh...

Not everyone hates VK. You're looking at a thread of popular shoujo that people dislike - so of course you're going to see popular mangas listed regularly. You're not going to see the people who like the manga posting that in this particular thread. =)

There are several mangas that are mentioned regularly. It's not just picking on VK. You just have to take it with a grain of salt, or it might be easier to just not read the thread, maybe. I love Ouran, but a lot of people say they dislike it in this thread.

For my part, I'm curious about why people dislike them, but it generally doesn't change my opinions on those titles. =)

She picked the robot instead of the nice guy that is nuts about her, good looking, nice to her, she likes him, and he's rich.

I want to say something really tacky about this series, but I don't want to offend anyone.

Oh boy this is going to be long!

I hate:

shoujo manga where although the girl is described as an intellectual and a high-achiever she's in fact dumb as a doornail and has the common sense of a toddler. See: Special A.

Shoujo manga where the boy and girl take 50 volumes to finally admit that they like one another. See Kimi ni Todoke, Skip Beat.

Shoujo manga where the girl is eternally embarrassed when they hold hands with their boyfriend, or when their boyfriend pecks them on the cheek. Otherwise go and get a guy friend instead. This is not the same as being sexually assaulted or raped. See: Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu.

Shoujo manga that desolve into a soap operatic mess and eternal despair. If I wanted to experience something like this, I'd go and watch the Bold and the Beautiful. See: Nana, Vampire Knight, Bokura Ga Ita. There are infinitely better ways to handle such stories that involve tragedy and depression. Simply see stuff by Mizushiro Setona.

And finally, any shoujo manga that has the main guy sexually assaulting/raping the main girl but it's still "love". See anything by Shinjo Mayu.

I don't hate it. I just think it's overrated. The art and story are very medicore. Sorry, that's not what I would call good art so I don't care about the "bishies". The backgrounds are none or done poorly and the characters look alike, just like many mainstream shoujos' art, and I don't like the way they are drawn. I for one generally prefer shounen art or shoujo art that's more detailed and different, at least not this long-bodied, huge-eyed type (you could find the "what is a bad art" thread). It's really nothing special. The story is not my cup of tea. I read it because of the hype and was disappointed and lost interest. It's just a dragging on melodramatic love triangle. That's just my opinion (the anime first season is actually good to be fair but we are talking about the manga... I at least give credit for the anime production. Never watched the 2nd season so no comment.). Then again, I don't think I ever liked any shoujo like that. I am not a shoujo romance fan so you should get where I am coming from. I know some people prefer that kind of story. It's just that VK is very popular among them.

As to Nana, I do like it though it's popular. I know it's not for everybody therefore some dislike it. It's not perfect. At least it dares to show many realistic adult situations and makes me think of my own life, unlike the majority of shoujo romances. What message one gets, I guess, will depend on the reader. That's one of the reasons I like it. However, I do think it should be ended. An opening ending is not bad for it.

I probably hate every single manga Shinjo Mayu drew in existence. This could be the raging feminist in my blood talking though.

I don't particularly hate any titles but I do find some highly overrated, such as:

Vampire Knight : blahblahemoblahblahSUCK MY NECK KANAME blahblahblah
Love Princess
Skip Beat - The heroine is wonderful, but I'd like to swap the love interest position for Ren to someone else please, because he's proceeding at a very, very, very, very slow pace, enough to piss me off.
Hot Gimmick - No, just no.

And a lot more, but that's all I can think of for now.

I should add MINAMI Kanan (worst content and art among all), KURUMATANI Haruko, AOKI Kotomi, and any other similar shoujo/smut author's works. Though most of the time I am not an actual reader, their art alone puts me off. Ironically, many of these authors have very similar poor art to each other. Characters look alike, with weird faces and ridiculously huge eyes.

Also Shuukatsu!! - Kimi ni Naitei. It's liked by many. I don't see the appeal of such characterization of a couple and got bored after reading just a bit.

Vampire Girl: first of all I don't like her art. And the romance aspects are stupid so I dropped it. I remember there's character who wants to confess "love" to someone she even never talked to before. What's the point of that? If anyone thinks that's "love", fine. It's not for me.

Gakuen Ouji: I thought the idea was refreshing and funny. Yet I found myself skipping pages and chapters while reading it. Art is bad too. And wait until you read volume 3 or 4. It's getting really irritating and stupid.

Edit: I add Fujoshi Kanojo - Just found it boring. Don't find it funny either. It's popular but whatever. I never seem to like anything by this mangaka.

Popular Shojo that should never have become popular:

Absolute Boyfriend-the manga is all about sex. mentioned nearly every chapter, and Riiko doesn't deserve to have a BF! She is so annoying, and actually, nearly all of the characters are. The sex doll who keeps pressuring the airhead heroine who is BFFs with a childhood bud who watched her get rejected again and again and only added to her misery, instead of confessing himself. Sheesh, you've done it again, Watase.

Vampire Knight-Truthfully, this one started out pretty good. At around chapter 20(?) though, I started getting a bit bored. The melodrama NEVER ENDS!! At least it had good art.

Special A-I really didn't hate this series. It was quite funny, and I loved Tadashi and Akira, but I didn't like the idiot main character. So slow! I don't have enough money to give to this long a series. Maybe if her new series is shorter by about 10 books.

There are probably more, but this is all for now! biggrin

Absolute Boyfriend - So stupid and annoying. I cannot understand why she would choose a robot over that perfect guy.

Perfect girl evolution - too drawn out, I don't even think its a shoujo anymore

Peach Girl - I kinda like the manga but the protagonist is soo annoying and irritating. Most of the characters are stupid and annoying. The whole manga is annoying mad

LOL As a predominantly shoujo reader, I like most of the mangas named in here. I mean, they ARE popular for certain reasons.

But I do have to agree that some shoujos are just entirely overrated(hence the reason I'm even in this thread).

Special A(just could never get into it...)
Vampire Knight(boring after a while)
100% Perfect Girl(OMG. stupidest shoujo I should never have read)

That being said, in defense of [/m]Absolute Boyfriend[m], all I can say is: it's a guilty pleasure. It's not really all that good, and probably not plausible, but it's amusing(not for everyone, which is why some of you dislike it).

Ok, first off I hafta say that I've never hate a manga or never have hated one. But here are the one's I've tried...

Hot Gimmick - meh, not my kind of story.

Kare Kano - I've tried so many times. It was just too boring for me for some reason.

Mars - yeeeeah, no.

Ouran Host Club - fandom really sucks, and I got bored of it after awhile.

shinshi doumei cross - yet another manga I tried to get into, but just couldn't. I usually like Tanemura's works too.

La Corda D'Oro - Not my kind of story. ^^;

The Wallflower - again, not my kind of story and not much of a fan of that kind of art style.

Fushigi Yuugi - I usually like WATASE Yuu's works, but I just didn't like this one for some reason. Not really a fan of the historical type manga I guess.

Fruits Basket - I got a headache every time I tried to get into this one. Not sure why, maybe it's the art. >>;

Skip Beat - eh, I read it through shoujo beat, and I got bored of it after a few pages.
