hm, haven't found a thread like that.

ok what I'm looking for it space battles (manga, anime fine) a la babylon 5, starship operators, outlaw star ... and such.
not too big on the space opera thing where they have huge fleets that can only fire at each other.

and the other thing would be fighting manga with fluid motions (anime and manga) (the beginning of kenichi) not like the later dragon ball stuff (hundreds of kicks and punches in on panel). stuff like tetsuwan birdy decode:02 where the art is kinda sloppy but the motion's still fluid.

I appreciate the help!

yaoi, shounen ai no thanxs,

action (duh), romance, comedy 's fine, actually much appreciated.

I do have a list but not everything's on it, but any help is appreciated

Are you looking for anime or manga or both?

You may have already seen it, but the 2003 Full Metal Alchemist anime has some amazing fight scenes. My favourite is in ep. 34 (
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the fight between Ed and Greed
).

Again this is a well-known one, but Cowboy Bebop (the anime) has some good fight scenes too. They mostly use guns rather than close combat though.

I haven't watched anime in ages, so I only know the oldies... smile

I liked the fighting in Jormungand, mostly guns though.
Blood+ had some nice swordfighting...
Katanagatari has both the fluid fighting and the "hundredpunchesinasplitsecondormaybeswordcuts" or something like that biggrin.
Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai!! had som good action scenes as well.
I also liked the action in Symphogear, nice music too.
Madlax was a joy to watch for the action. Again mostly guns. Awesome music as well
The Third's mc is called the "Sword Dancer"... guess what she does. Oh, and as a bonus she got a smart tank... that ALSO does some "fluid fighting", against a helicopter/hovercraft thingie... yeah.
All anime, but some of them also has manga/novels availiable

Fluid action scenes :
Seirei no Moribito : OK, you most likely have this one, but IMHO this is THE best for incredible and fluid fighting scenes. The 1st scene where the MC fights against multiple assassins is still clear in my mind after all this time.
Sword of the Stranger
Shigurui If you don't mind gorey scenes
Speed Grapher
Darker than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha I think the sequel Darker than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha Gaiden where the MC has lost his powers has even better action scenes.
Kurozuka
Samurai Champloo

More recent ones :
Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta Surprised at this one. This is a remake but with good production values, the action scenes were really good although some of the zany characters might put you off.
Sidonia no Kishi : It should be a good fit for space battles too. Fluid action scenes if you don't mind mecha.

Space battles :
Vandread
Captain Harlock CGI movie.
Knight Run Webcomic

I came here to suggest Sword of the stranger, but it seems oneeyed's already done that, so i'll just strongly second it. Seriously, I don't usually pay attention to the fluidity of fight scenes but that was the first thing I noticed while I was watching the film.

I don't disagree with this, since those do have fluid action, especially 00, but both Gundam Unicorn and Gundam Build Fighters trash those two when it comes to fluid fighting scenes.

Unicorn ends a bit weak, but the fighting scenes are, from the very start, pretty much pure sex.

Cannot second this enough.

Other titles with very solid action set-pieces:
Fate/Zero
Fate Kaleid Liner Prisma Ilya (Weird spin-off, this one, but there are some shit-good fights there)
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and it's sequel.
Space battles and Kaijuu = Heroic Age
Space battles, the power of pop and very fluid mecha = Macross Frontier
Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince - The rest of it is kind... meh as is some of the fighting, but there are some really good ones in the mix. You may want to pass this one.

Since Madlax is already mentioned, both Noir and El Cazador De La Bruja should be noted, since those 3 form the Bee Train "girls with guns" trilogy.
Canaan is also cut from the same cloth.
