I can't see any parallels between this and death note. The main char doesn't really care about people's evil deeds...and doesn't want to get himself into trouble. He is just being blackmailed by this girl. This is also why I don't like the main char. He is doing what the girl says like a frightened sheep. I think he could easily scare her off. He could say something like: "If you tell everyone about my daily duties and I get expelled...I'll follow you to the end of the world and make a hell out of your life!! Muhahahah!!" Everything would be settled. I mean if the girl lets herself get bullied, a line like that should scare her off...or not? Otherwise it wouldn't make any sense. That's why...although the main char appears to be kinda smart and calculative...he is an idiot.
The main char can't be compared with Light at all. Light is cooler. He doesn't get himself manipulated.

Edit: Actually it reminds me more of GTO...with all this psychological school life...just without the comedy.

The manga's even been given the nickname "Fap Note". And you have to admit that he has the same cynicalness as Light.

Ah yeah I like those expressions that he makes^^. That's why I had high hopes. I thought he is a strong-willed character who never admits defeat (just like Light). But turned out he isn't that bright. But I will continue to read it...although I can see how the end will turn out.

His catchphrase should be "Just as fapped!" laugh

But he is very similar to Light. That's one of the great things about it, having someone so devious like that in a retarded and funny situation like beating off in a school bathroom.

he even goes to see a movie called "Let Note" with the same font that "Death Note" uses, and one of the guys was called "Eru" (L?) and the other one was "Yagami"

this is clearly a parody of Death Note

Its kinda like a spoof series, or at least the first few chapters are. I LAUGHED ENDLESSLY because the only thing going through my mind was: "This is just a remake of Death Note, except instead of killing people, this guy's FAPPING!" ROFLMAO! Then it became an awesome story and I was really glad i read it XD
And of course as previously mentioned, the artwork is very similar, in the first few chapters of course.
If you read it on Manga Fox, then you'll see the Fap Note credits page.. another great joke XD thanks to the scanlators for that one lollz

I don't think it's fair to compare this to Death Note. They are completely different genres. The only thing that's similar is the intensity of the story-telling. However, whereas Death Note explores the philosophical themes of 'what ifs' through a series of sins and cruelty, Onani Master Kurosawa is a story centered around mistaken choices and eventual redemption.

Of course the main character isn't as 'cool' as Light, and he isn't supposed to be either. The whole story revolves around his evolution as a human being, so if he started out flawless, then the manga loses its point.

In any case, this is one of the best mangas I have ever read, and certainly the best in terms of story telling. I would recommend this to anyone looking for something to make you think, feel and ultimately smile.

Well, I just read the manga in one run from vol 1 to vol 4 the ending, And Im VEry, very, VERY Satisfied with it. biggrin Yups, love his imagination and also the manga.
But what I reaally like is, the unexpected outcome of the last pairing that he get. cool

Oh, and by the way : NO, this isnt like Death note, and its just parody ing a little bit of it.
Along with Haruhi, nogami neuro, Conan mentioned abit, etc....

The dynamic faces that Kurosawa makes, some are from other manga character.

References aside, it's be similar to Death Note if the latter was a story of redemption. That would be a pretty nice manga, in my opinion!
