I am Muslim. I pray 5 times a day, fast in the month of ramadan, and I believe in the one God and that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the last messenger.

Contrary to popular belief, Islam is strongly supported by science. The Quran actually describes the different stages of the development process of the fetus, the origins of the universe, the formation of clouds and other phenomena. But what really blows me away is the fact that all of these things were articulated by a man that did not even know how to read or write. And even moreso that all of that happened 1400 years ago; in a time where none of the technologies of today existed.

Islam has been so stigmatized in the western world that many know nothing but the stereotypes. People think that the religion says that we beat women, but they don't know that the definition of "beating" is tapping the forefinger lightly on something. It really bothers me that people accuse me of believing in oppressing women and other stuff of similar nature without having any credible knowledge on these topics.

I encourage people to challenge their views and actually look into the religion with the intent of learning about it rather than demonizing it. If you still don't like it after trying to look at it in an unbiased manner, then that's your call.

Peace Out

Assalammualaykum and good day to everyone,
I'm a muslim too, and rather than practicing, I'd say I'm living a muslim lifestyle as shown by our prophet, Muhammad p.b.u.h (albeit some changes in respect to the modern culture and technology biggrin).

I understand those who felt bothered by 'religous persons' who keep yacking on to make you convert to them and their order.

Truth be told, every religion wants to expand and Islam have a great policy on this (which most religion does in a way) that to ask every member to keep their brothers in-line and ask the others to join us peacefully (but some idiots never understands this policy and continues to force people, and this applies to each and every religion).

So, to my muslim brothers, keep up the good work and may HE guides you in all that you do.

To the non-muslims brothers, the very same upon you too, and come have a chat some time.

Wa'alaykummussalaam, and see ya.

P.s: ctserge, thats very nice of you. Keep it up, brother.

I was born and raised as a Catholic. I practiced faithfully and dutifully until I was 12 years old.

Since then, I don't practiced any religion, although I've tried several others in between. I guess the best description I can be is agnostic, and yes I know that's not a religion.

Well my dad was a born buddhist, never practised it. My mom is a Hindu and practises it. I sort of go with the flow with Hindu religious rituals and such but I sort of believe in Christianity. I mean, I like churches and have attended masses a few times. No way close to anyone who follows Christianity in all seriousness but someway, I need for a God to be there.

I'm surprised to see so many Muslims here, didn't expect that many . I'm a Muslim as well , though i don't wear Hijab, I do pray and fast . I'm not as religious as some people, but I'm religious in some matters . Btw , I was curious as to what type of Muslim you all are ? I'm Shi'ite [Shia] , which is about 10% of the world's Muslim population .

I'm agnostic - not a religion but still valid as a 'religious point of view'

I believe being a good persons ins't exclusive to those who have a religion ( most religious people in my country think otherwise ), I do whatever I want as long as my actions doesn't affect others in a negative way, I don't believe in god or gods, I just seek to be a better 'human being' and to do so I don't feel like I need a religion at all, but I respect those who have one.
I have lots of friends from several different religions and I think it's a great exchange of experiences.

The only thing I don't really like in religion - to be precise , in the people who are followers - is that most doesn't really follow their rules and simply do what is comfortable to them....I mean, if you are into a certain religion You should try to fit to it it's rules not the opposite or simply pick the ones you like and reject the ones you don't. Of course you don't need to be 100% strict but so far I haven't seen any religious rule that isn't do-able mad Better to have a religious life without religion than being an heretic.
