First off...I hate Death Note. At first I wasn't expecting much from Bakuman since same Mangaka. Though from pass experience I know Mangakas tend to do other genres from their previous work i.e. mangaka of Black Cat who did that series then To-Love Ru. Overall, I enjoy Bakuman much more than his previous work. At times it seems to drag a bit but lately with them not achieving immense success has drawn me back in. A good read for sure.

Love it!!

I didn't read any other series by Ohbata Takeshi ( though saw DN as anime ) but became a fan of his reading some oneshots by him...

I actually didn't start Death Note because it was already a finished work with hundreds of chapters and I dislike to start a manga that way...It seems like an endless trip...

But as I saw he and Ohba Tsugumi start a new series I was like - let's give it a try^^
Since then I can't wait for new chapters to be updated XD
What I like the most is the way how the story and art build a perfect harmony...
The story itself might not be THAT interesting and the art of Ohbata sensei can be boring too without a proper plot...

Together these two awesome artists create a power couple!!^^

Bakuman is definitely one of the best manga that I've read. I love it.

I want to be a mangaka with my friend, and this manga is helping me out when it comes to certain terms, publishing, tools, and the life of a mangaka and all that cool stuff. It's a really good manga, and it's a great idea. I'm so glad that they made a manga about making manga. laugh When I first heard about it, I was at an anime convention. I wanted to read it, so I did. Back then, there were only 5 chapters, though. XD

This manga is definitely worth reading. I can't wait until it comes out in America, and I DEFINITELY can't wait until it becomes an anime! (It better become an anime. |D)

What The?!?! the author of death note made this? thats like taking a 180 turn... so random eek

But yeah its pretty good. i like the characters and stuff but the storyline is lacking to me. the only reason that i still read it is that its interesting to know what a mangaka goes through.

i find it a good read..it's interesting seeing the 'mangaka' world. its a fun to read. i find it better than most mangas in general, no offense ..big fan?-no i just find a decent read, since it's different than most shounen mangas...

Meurgh..Well I've heard that the text is far too long and that it's slow paced, but heck it's the manga industry. Of course it'd take a long time to become a mangaka; the authors have really fast paced it for us by not showing all the months flying by.
The interaction between the characters is complex and interesting, and it makes you wonder what's going to happen next. For the success of Death Note influencing it, I don't know...I didn't really know that the authors were the same till chapter 2 where I was like 'Hey, this art's similiar to that of Death Note's!'.

Sure there are a lot of mangas out of there that need recognition, but I can't think of any that are 'way' better than this one. Bakuman's unique and has got a flavor all of its own, and if you want fast paced action and showy art, then go read a battle manga bigrazz
