maybe Monster?
it's not only about detective, but plot is great and detectives are also involved.

From your two examples, I think the type of manga you're looking for are seinen with mystery and action. So I did a genre search:

http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?genre=Action_Mystery_Seinen& perpage=50

I've only read a couple of those results, but I definitely recommend 20th Century Boys, by the same mangaka as Monster.

Some stuff not on that list that might fit the bill:

Old Boy - some mystery with a bit of action.
Samurai Executioner - not really a detective series, but it does have a lot of criminals and why they end up on the chopping block.

I would recommend watching the movie version if you have time.

Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo
The New Kindaichi Detective Files

(I've read them all since they're fully licensed in my native language, they're very good, especially when the art improves at the latter volumes.)

Another recommendation?
Shinrei Tantei Yakumo - Akai Hitomi wa Shitteiru
Psychometrer Eiji <-- one of my most favourite mangas of all time. The art improves a lot on the mid-volumes.
