Starpoint Gemini 2 Origins Takes a while to get the bigger ships though.
Of Orcs And Men Interesting seeing things from another POV...
The Last Days of The Third Age mod for Mount and Blade. Too bad the engine can't handle larger battles.

Batman: Arkham Knight: Asylum is still the most cohesive and comic accurate one and Origins has the best writing (i like City the least and the spin-off Blackgate is a dud) but this is the roundest package yet. The gameplay is the usual polished to hell and back deal with a surprising amount of diversity and the new Batmobile is a bit overused but it works unbelievably well for most of the game. The very engaging narrative uses a few fake outs too many, the continuity is now a mess and the Knight´s identity (i predicted it in the thread about 2014´s bugs) is exceptionally obvious and even a bit unresolved. That said i skipped a lot of sleep to finish all the story content that isn´t a collect-a-thon. The audiovisual presentation is industry leading, John Noble´s Scarecrow is the best version of the character to this day and another returning villain is in top form too. I even got to play as Azrael and see a comic accurate Professor Pyg (the M rating doesn´t lie) so well done Rocksteady. A- and a Game of the Year contender.

Mortal Kombat X: The systems themselves are a bit stiff and the admittedly fun gore is a bit played out now but it´s nice to see a series i have followed since kindergarten (Russia is crazy) doing better than ever even if i like the prequel more. The story mode is once again one of the few good ones in the fighting genre and the diversity of the cast and the lack of sexist nonsense that plagues these games is a delight on top.
Now back to the WB slave pits for Injustice 2 as i also liked it a tiny bit more. B

Yoshi's Woolly World: Let´s be honest. The series peaked in 1995 and i can stop now as i played all and am done. Young players may like it as it´s short trip that plays on autopilot and it´s very pretty too even if i expected the wool mechanics to affect the gameplay in a real way. Skip it unless you need another identical Yoshi level pack that excels at competence and nothing else.

RIP Satoru Iwata. He started as a programmer and worked himself up to be one of the few good CEO´s that existed. I wasn´t surprised to read about his passing as his health was a concern for years and he looked like a ghost towards the end. The company saw heights and lows under his Blue Ocean leadership but the man was Nintendo in the end and his character was without question. Read Shigesato Itoi´s tribute to him here and the biggest tragedy to me is that he had no children.

I was totally addicted to Guild Wars 2 since April until they changed the total layout to Lion's Arch!! ): I was pretty disappointed. But, besides that change, what I love about Guild Wars the most is the community of players and random quest that happen at the right time! Unfortunately, I stopped playing for a while after a glitched took my gold away and I was saving up for bank slots. fml. I lost all motivation to log in.

Another game I'm getting back into is Terraria. I stopped playing when the last boss was Golem, but now they added all these cool new bosses and gear. I'm excited about expert mode loot, as well as the different A.I.'s for bosses!

*bumps*~

I'm playing Path of Exile. I stopped playing a year ago when Dominus was the last boss, but I see that they've added an Act 4. I'm doing a bow build (leaning towards lightning damage) which I started from the Scion instead of the ranger (don't know why.) I like the Jewels. It's a bonus.

Mainly playing Factorio right now. In fact it's all I'm playing now. Even playing it in my dreams.
Here's my current early factory:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/38349200/screenshot2.jpg

Thinking of rebuilding it entirely when I've got construction robots. I want hundreds of furnaces making iron, copper and steel. I want at least one train with several hundreds of thousand tonnes of iron and copper ore always unloading. I want a massive factory with pitch black smog and walls of turrets constantly expanding out murdering the natives of the planet. I want a full scale human (alien for them) invasion!! Genocide in the name of capitalism and human expansionism!! Muha muhahahahaaaa!!!! In short, I want to expand so much I get a BSOD every time I try to play with that save. biggrin

mgs5tpp
and boy am i dissapointed
I dont like the open world MMO bullshit
i dont like managing motherbase
i dont like going hunting for diamonds/plants/minerals ETC to be able to build more shit on base
i dont like the system you recrute new personal
the missions all look the same
and there is no transition between "chapters" ok ok sometimes there is but not really
doing a chapter looks just like doing a side ops and nothing really changes

and why include a character like quiet
into such a major brand
i mean wtf silicone tits in tiny bikini and acting very much like she have severe braindamage or "cute" if your japanese

I´ll return later with the usual update of what i got but read my "glowing" Metal Gear Solid V review in the meantime which i wrote as a form of therapy and will now post elsewhere.
"#1 Best Critic Reviewed PS4 Game of 2015" my ass Metacritic... mad

Kojima´s Phantom Menace
I finished every Kojima games at least twice and the Phantom Pain was my most awaited game of 2015 even if i hated the story and existence of Ground Zeroes as it was an unjustifiably bleak demo that sold for 30 $ that i can finished under 15 minutes. TPP opens promising with an exceptional introduction level and then lasts for about 15 to 20 hours in a chapter called "Revenge" that tells the story of Punished "Venom" Snake (?) and his struggle against a forgettable Captain Planet villain who shows up about 3 times. The central theme never truly comes, cut scenes are sparse and Big Boss is reduced to an avatar who barely speaks or shows emotions. Legendary boss battles have been cut down to 3 brief shooter levels which repeat multiple times and the game never feels like a sequel to Piece Walker or GZ. The few returning characters are now moronic puppets who constantly forget their motivations and solve every problem by conducting endless torture sessions to find out intel they already knew to then immediately forget it. The game only features a man´s behind in form of nudity but the game´s highly publicized sexism is actually genuine misogyny to a degree i have never seen in a A-level production and makes Duke Nukem Forever or DOA Extreme Beach Volleyball look like feminist propaganda. The 2 named female characters spend every moment on Mother Base in prison cells and their sole existence is to dress in skimpy underwear and to switch from one stripper pose to the next. Quite even takes public showers (with you of course) to raise in game troop morale in a story about genocide/war and the promised justification for her battle g-string ends up being a joke that dehumanizes her further while breaking the game´s logic and the series lore. The only other notable female presence is a 10 minutes long recording of a returning character suffocating and i also learned that lesbianism can be "cured" if they meet the right man. Equally incomprehensible is that all their subplots end up making no sense as the game marches on. Quiet´s final mission in chapter 2 especially becoming the franchise´s lowest point as it opens with an attempted rape that is used as fan service and ends with a fight against the biggest army in the entire series. MGS though used to be a stealth franchise that got famous for having a vulnerable lead who had trouble fighting only one Hind-D! The game´s constant nostalgia pandering is problematic too as it never leads to a payoff with baby Psycho Mantis being the worst offender. Ah resolutions...

The 2nd chapter "Race" also has nothing to do with the theme as nearly everyone is Caucasian and is further the game´s breaking point. The chapter lasts at least 15 to 20 hours but it only features 3 (!) new story missions and the rest are old levels or remixes with identical cut scenes and random difficulty spikes in a way too easy game. I spend most of my time grinding repetitive side-ops, listening to pointless tapes, had to randomly return to Mother Base and the game still managed to unlock the endgame content in the wrong order for me. The first new mission is an unforgettable horror level that should have been part of chapter 1 but it´s twist resolution is the 2nd dumbest thing in the game. Another is the mentioned Quite level and the last is a repeat of the tutorial with minimally different cut scenes so i got to relearn the controls again after about 50 hours. There is no final boss and the baffling twist ending was something fans figured out 2 years ago but it´s also the worst version of it possible which makes the original Mass Effect 3 ending look reasonable. The last second revelation further has no bearing on the main plot, breaks the franchise´s canon and even undoes itself immediately during a credits time-line which may have wiped Portable Ops and Revengeance off the map. The game also leaves a dozen plot threads unresolved of which one is sort of closed in a bonus video in the Collector´s Edition. Another ending has been discovered within the PC version together with the existence of at least a 3rd chapter while the 2nd one is obviously unfinished too. Promised features as a return to camp Omega or a playable Battle Gear are missing and a lot of scenes form the trailers are MIA as well or show up in a vastly different context. The advertised narrative of a man going "nuclear" that could have ended Kojima´s career won´t be found as well. Remember the ending to GZ in which Snake lost an arm in a highly controversial vaginal explosion and it´s abhorred use of child/gang rape and human experimentation? That trash isn´t truly followed up open and you spend hours saving "guest starring" (a quote) child soldiers, giving then an education and setting up a zoo for them in a narrative that is one of the lightest in the series while the main post story objective is to disarm nukes. Big Boss though built one in the prequel, nearly unleashes nuclear holocaust in a MSX sequel and always used child soldiers so Silent Hill 1-3, I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream or This War of Mine the game is not. The game further doesn´t close the gap between the series 2 main narratives as originally promised so what did i buy here? The graphics may be impressive but even these and more importantly the scope are clearly held back as the first Fox Engine demo and P.T. look better and the game also needs to run on hardware from 2005 which lead to a lifeless open word and reused assets. The A-level voice cast is further wasted as the dialog delivery is often awkward and a lot of cut lines have been unearthed too. Kiefer especially sleepwalks though the few lines he is given so switching him out for David will never make sense to me but i ironically like his Ishmael. I am not even sure what the game´s theme is but reading Moby Dick in preparation proved useless. The current online mode is lastly a joke as MGO is coming later and the game even shipped with save breaking bugs to cap off this insanity so finally on to the good stuff.

The slightly unmemorable soundtrack is professional and the sound design is top notch. The controls are smooth and the game has the best AI in the series. The dreaded micro transactions are very unobtrusive and frankly pointless but the game is about to get house armor DLC which should be expect from Konami at this point. The amount of gameplay variation is a bit debatable but the variety of how levels can be solved needs to be praised and here lies the main saving grace. As much of a disaster the game is as an entry in the canon or as a narrative itself it still needs to be applauded for having the best gameplay of any stealth game to date. No amount of repetition or missing content can change that and the game´s strong point need to be studied and copied as i put in 60 hours and unlocked most trophies. I even became so good that i can now break game´s mechanics and pull off head-shots without properly aiming. Most of chapter 1 is actually a delight and it´s flimsy narrative is even excusable then but the daggers of betrayal started to cut away at me immediately thereafter. I would feel mostly similar if the game was a new IP but such a move, a reduction to a more varied chapter 1 only and no disturbing fan service as Quite later wipes rain of the floor with her breast as a reward for maxing out her level would have changed my tune immensely. I may have called it a "Game of the Year" just like the vast majority of critics who played it at a press event that was too short to finish it. They would have butchered it though if it wasn´t a Kojima game but the development cost 80+ million and Konami is now the devil so 10s only it is. The year´s highest Metacritic score is thus clearly not inflated... but the game is starting to get backlash and dedicated forums or amazon.jp will read similar to my review. Sanity at last and i only hold the overambitious and also narrative free MSX original in a lower regard from the canon entries. I am frankly baffled how any of this was allowed to be shipped and i blame Konami as much as i blame Kojima in the end even if i am able to recommend the game to anyone who likes action or stealth and doesn´t mind Micheal Bay movies (i do). Don´t recruit Quite or bother with the other woman even if you like fan-service as both narratives spiral into weirdly gory insanity, pick D-Dog instead and stop doing narrative missions after the first chapter to not give yourself whiplash due to the crap that follows. Don´t even bother with the cut scenes after the prologue as these will only piss off fans and newcomers will lack any context due to the minimalism.

I ultimately have to give TPP a 7.5/10 as it is one of the better games of 2015 but it could have been the series crowning swan song and not an insane drug trip. The game further proves that hubris and a burnt out creator will lead you nowhere as MGS should have ended with the first ending to Piece Walker and we should have moved on to the now dead Revengeance 2, Snatcher 2, ZoE 3 or Silent Hills instead. I thus wish that i could hate the game but i cannot as it mostly plays like a dream despite the mountain of failures and it proves one thing like barely anything before: Video games are a medium where gameplay is king as TPP would be incapable of working as anything else. Let´s wait and see what else will be found in the PC version as the game is starting to stumbling form one controversy to the next due to customers unlocking the problematic bits and Kojima productions may start spilling their beans regarding the game´s troubled development soon too. Far Cry 4 is lastly is a better game in every way.
