Topic for just that: discussing the hows, whys, and WTFs of mysterious drool bonds.
What we know now (chapter 34):
1. Bond is an act of synchronisation of body conditions (and thoughts and images going through subject's head) upon exchanging saliva, no matter how fresh. If exchange of other bodily fluids has this effect is unknown.
EDIT: It appears that tasting bodily fluids makes effect work. No matter what fluids.

2. Bonds can form between people mutually in love, or between subjected to some mutual "destiny".

3. Bonds seems to imply sexual attraction between subjects.

4. Kisses somehow don't invoke this effect, though maybe shown kisses were too short for it to take place.

So far we've seen 3 bonds appearing: Urabe/Tsubaki,
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Urabe/Oka and Hayakawa/her current boyfriend
. Two of them follow a common pattern, one doesn't, and it's the most interesting. What's the basis of
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Urabe/Oka
bond?

I always assumed it was a bond of friendship, and that the magical spit bond thing could be done with any peoples with whom you form a deep relationship...or something. But I didn't really think too hard on it, so...XP

Chapter 35 brought us new revelations. Apparently
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Oka wants to have naked picture of Urabe, for unknown purposes.

This goes in line with my theory that she is bisexual, and not pursues Urabe seriously because:
1. They are both already in relationships with other people.
2. Urabe does not appear to be interested, at least right now.
3. This one is tricky and may be wrong - there is a belief in Japan that "serious relationship" is possible only between man and woman, and anything other then that is just child's play. Or so I heard.

Actually, in volume 3, on page 43, he licks her sweat and (continuing on to page 44) he get an imagery of Urabe in her bikini at the ocean. On page 45 Tsubaki hypothesizes that the effects are also transferable through her sweat.

So, if Urabe was to taste Tsubaki's sperm, for example, she would experience orgasm? And vaginal sex without kisses would not invoke this effect? Makes you wonder about Power Perversion Potential in case Oka would ever decide to take her fooling around with Urabe to the next level.

secreations of the reproductive organs is still questionable (and my go unanswered), but its likely that may be true given the information we have. that brings up another question, what about blood? would tasting blood induce the feeling of pain?

this is rather fun! i came to this thread in hopes of talking about the scientific posibility of this but this is more fun!

I think I may have an idea as to why kissing does not seem to convey emotion like drool does.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
at this stage, the couples (really just oka/Ueno) are too innocent, so they are probably feeling pretty much the same thing during a kiss ("I cannot believe we are kissing"). Later on, when they get into an actual relationship, perhaps a kiss will convey something ("why are your clothes still on" etc). On that note...what kind of 17 year olds are these people? A kiss every so often? Is this manga set in the 50's or something?

I can imagine that if sweat is just as effective as drool, then any other bodily fluid would probably produce a similar or even stronger effect. My biggest question, however, is why Urabe will not let Tsubaki touch her without permission. Does that do the same thing to her as drool or something?

In on of the earlier chapters
Spoiler (highlight to view)
She had to go buy pajamas to sleep on her bed after Tsubaki slept on it because of the effects
. So I'm guessing that's why he can't just hug her. She might be more sensitive to his secretions than he is to hers.
