Are there any manga where knitting is a major theme, in mostly non-ridiculous way?

Any genre is fine, but slice-of-life is best.

I honestly can't think of anything.
Now I'm interested to see if anyone comes up with a title.
Could this be something that doesn't exist in the manga world? eek

Unfortunately, I can't think of a thing.

If there were a manga, I'd expect it'd be silly like making it extreme to play with tops, to rollerskate or to play children's card games.

I am also interesting in this as well. Perhaps you could extend it out to where the protagonist does a lot of knitting?

There's some knitting in the second story in Watashi no Cinderella, but I'm not sure if that's what you're looking for.

Umm... Not sure if this plays a big enough role to suit what you're looking for, but I remember this shoujo oneshot or short series about a girl who knitted clothes and other knickknacks to sell outside her school on a blanket. Can't fricken remember the name though...
Spoiler (highlight to view)
The school is right beside another rich private wall, and separated only by a huge wall. One day, a boy digs a hole from the rich school side and meets the girl blah blah blah...

That's the extra story in the second volume of Parfait Tic!

In Pretty Face, there is an hilarious chapter about knitting.
In my opinion, the funniest chapter of the whole manga !

If you're still looking for it...

The closest I can get is with Rozen Maiden because the main character can sew, and he's good at it. It's not like it's the main purpose of the story though.

This is exactly what I've been looking for. It's so adorable! Thanks very much!

It even has a paper doll in the inside cover, so cute...
