There are some candidate for it (except Manaka and Nishino of course  )
- Yui
She is constantly give Manaka chance met Nishino again, and she push Manaka to make clear his feeling to Toujo.
- Oukusa
I think because he too consentrate to football made he forget confess Nishino. Other maybe because he accidentaly drop "pen of fate" on Nishino name in chapter 35.
- Manaka Mother
Thanks to close relation betwen Nishino and Manaka mom, other girl chance approach Manaka became slimer. Honestly it obvious Manaka end with Nishino since she is ideal daughter in-law in Manaka mother eyes.
- Koniyama
He is who push Manaka to confess to Nishino and made opening for Manaka x Nishino.
- Aya
Honestly because she is so timid and often made Manaka confuse, her relation with Manaka never made progress.
- Satsuki
Thanks for her constant pestering to Manaka, Manaka became sick for her act than love it. Of couse when Nishino still out of story she keep Manaka distant with Aya, too bad her effort is waste since Nishino comeback. 
According my oppinion, Yui is character who resposible to the ending since she keep her brother (Manaka) and her most admired senpai (Nishino) close in every chance she could.

i think it's aya since she is the reason this whole thing started and if she didn't confess and finish the novel, i doubt manaka would be able to reject her. it also made satsuki give up

I agree, Aya had too many chances, but I guess shy girls don't confess

Hmm, i personally don't dislike the ending, but the person who responsible for it? well obviously the mangaka , but of course she is not a character so i must agree with other posters, AYA is the one.

Hello DB84x, seen your old posts at onemanga.
Nishino/Manaka ending would of happen anyways. Aya actions just made it more dramatic. When Manaka kiss Nishino with his own action at the bench. He made his choice already. Aya later interactions just hurts him (example: losing a friend and "What if scenarios")
Manaka only feels strongly for Aya because of her Novel, which is his dream to make a great movie someday.
Aya story: A boy picks a princess (Aya) or friend as his girl. He picks the friend, in this case its Nishino.

Actually the princess was Nishino, but since the story progress the princess show more connectivity with main character. So it natural that the princess was won since she was superior since beginning, but in regular romance manga Aya type character will won.

Mizuki Kawashita is responsible for this dreadful end, and as the man responsible is manaka from here to Japan flies round a million times, I'm from Argentina. Aya is failing to be shy, but his way is played by.

Nishino princess?, You're hunchbacked?. Kawashita is responsible for something they all complain of the end he does. leave much to be desired. Aya is the queen ha ha. the best, manaka is a coward for not confronting her feelings Toujou, truth generates antipathy me, is everything a man should be. The end does not satisfy anyone, Nishino fans, being the second option should not be pleasing to fans, at least it is said, failed to Toujou that thought had a boyfriend, and went with it. A manaka likes it easy, the challenge is not for Him. Nishino easy dish, Toujou is a bit complicated ha ha ha. A Toujou not may face, God knows why. Kawashita grrrrrrrrrr

Mizuki is solely responsible Kawashita respectfully enojen.Podria not giving him a happy ending for the two. A Nishino and A Toujou.
Just had to create a good character to one of them and tell their story. Lost much more time with female characters.
