Strobe Edge is seriously the type you are looking for... the girl is so pure and although it is quite cliché there's something about it that is quite different from the usually stuff.

I second Cat Street!

BTW, I personally found Hana to Akuma sorta, 'child-ish'... but hey, we all have different opinions I guess! ^^"

-Faster Than A Kiss: Despite being a teacher/student romance and despite the two being married its a pretty sweet and innocent comic. This could have taken a smutty route very easily but it doesnt. Its adorable.

-Otomen The main character, Asuka, is incredibly sweet and innocent. And he's a guy. laugh You dont get that often in shoujo...I think. Plus it also has a focus on friendship and not just romance.

-W-Juliet It definitely fits. They get together very earlier but its still stays interesting.

-Lovely Complex Theres some drama and angst but its never really too much. It has lots of funny moments to balance it out. The main pair kinda fits the whole innocent romance thing.

I second Kimi ni Todoke. Still being scanned and translated, but it's a great manga. It has that innocent and romantic vibe. Very sweet and moe with heart-pounding scenes that make you go "Kyuuun~!" lol. It's real cute. If you haven't read it yet, check it out. biggrin

Siiiiiiigh... (That's a happy sigh, btw. smile ) Thank you so much to everyone for their recommendations! I'm actually surprised by how much romance I haven't read - and here I thought I was reading a lot, lol. Proves that manga is basically an endless ocean of possibilities...

Thank you all! And keep 'em coming!

Just to mix it up, some pure romance shoujo ai: Sweet Blue Flowers (what I've read so far, anyway!) and Maria-Sama ga Miteru (barest hints of romance, but very pure and moe). As for shounen ai... Komatta Toki ni Wa Hoshi ni Kike! is so ridiculously pure, seriously - it's like, 9 volumes that I've read so far and they haven't even kissed or admitted that they like each other, lol. Shibutani-kun Tomo no Kai is also very pure. Asterisk is about two angels in love and so is VERY pure. Trans romance... I think Hourou Musuko is very sweet. smile

More classic-style shoujo romance: A Delicious Relationship, The Changelings (there's definitely lust, but the main character is so pure that she just doesn't get it!) and Ashita no Ousama (I love love LOVE this one!).

When I think about it, the main relationship in Skip Beat! is actually pretty darn pure, even though the girl kind of goes comedically evil once in a while - but even that evil is pure, y'know? biggrin

Shiawase Kissa Sanchoume? And Sailor Fuku ni Onegai!. And Dengeki Daisy, which is so, SO innocent. eyes

Quote from PxP

That's marked as a smut series. Even if it's pure in the beginning, sounds like it won't be the whole way though.

The hero and heroine also annoy me, personally. It's a fairly cliche shoujo in my opinion.

Cardcaptor Sakura by CLAMP is what immediately comes to mind.
It's my favourite series and I'm surprised no one has already mentioned it (although I suppose since it falls into the magical girl category it isn't just a romance story). But it's a very cute story.

Special A is another series that comes to mind.
