I began to read this one months ago, and I couldn't agree more, it was about time for a werewolf to shine, and FUCK the author if the last boss of this manga turns out to be a vampire that for some reason or the other is stronger than our Inugami friend.

Actually, Wolfen crest is a remake of the the 1970's version. There was also another remake in 1992 with same name.

Dunno is there any other supernatural dudes aside from Akira. But sure as hell that yakuza boy looks like frikking oni. Still human is human.. id bet hed be wetting his pants and screaming on all octaves same time if Akira would go and give a roar on his face.

Well, so far I'm pretty much disappointed. Initially I was like "wow omg what a cool art and idea!", but I've reached chapter 15 and it's bleh. It's very naive, and that female teacher puts me off big time.
I guess I'll come back to it in a year or so and see what happens.
It's miles away from Wolf's Rain or Berserk for that matter, unless you're a 15 year old kid

im sure once he gets angry or gets in a fight (Which aught to be soon considering the way its going in the last few chapters)
I like the artstyle tho, hopefully itl be put to good use.

with the recent release of chapters (17-18) I think it clear that in "combat" the warewolves in this manga dont look cute, innocent and cudly. Rather well depicted.

I think its horrible. It brings nothing new... its the same old thing but with more werewolf. And it's definitely not a seinen. They should put it in an "in between" category called Childish seinen or Shonen for childish grownups.

I'd hold off judging before you read more of the series... Seriously, under 20 chapters, and you're saying it really sucks? Maybe it's not the best, most original series ever, but no one is saying it is, and of course it's not going to please everyone. There are hardly any series out that focus on werewolves like this one, I've looked far and wide, and it is unique in that aspect.
I skimmed to chapter 62 when I was bored, let's just say it gets pretty fucking insane. A couple characters snap, there's a school shooting, someone gets turned into a werewolf and gets some revenge... I'm dying for more of this to get translated. It looks crazy, and less stereotypical. Even less realistic, perhaps, but it's a series about a werewolf by the author of Akumetsu, why the hell would anyone expect anything remotely plausible? That's really not the point. The author isn't trying to portray middle school kids in a realistic environment, and if you get hung up on details like that, what are you doing reading manga in the first place?
Then again, maybe I'm just easily satisfied by the stunning art and the way the author portrays werewolves, as sexy, rugged, and brutal. To me that's just the win I've been missing in this Twilight/vampire-obsessed world.
