I can't get too far in this games, or others like it. I always forget to save and then I end up dying. I get pissed off my hard work was for nothing and go do something else for a while

From what I've seen the quicksave in this game is quite nice.

Wait, there's a quick save!?

F7 and F8, if I remember right. There's also a pretty liberal auto-save function in place.

You get the Helm at the Tombstone in West Brecilian Forest, its one of the harder ones, the Reverent spawns with two Skeleton mages. The tomb is clearly labeled on the map.
It is the x near the middle of the map

Anyone thinking Dragon Age 'copied' the battle system/game play from other games can go and play the Bioware games like Baldur's Gate series, NWN1 and KOTOR and they can see that pretty much every single 'RPG' out there have the same roots: Table top RPG. Bioware merely enhance the table top RPG into something more with more 'action'.

Dragon Age as well as other Bioware RPG line differs from most other RPG is because they have choices and consequences. It's very difficult to make a game that can mirror real-life decisions when almost everything is somewhat 'gray'. So most game makers often just go with the 'good' ending for 'good' decisions. I think Dragon Age shows that Bioware story line becomes a lot more complex.

While you are playing Dragon Age, you might think that 'decisions' and respond are generic since you can just put them into the 9 'types' of characters in a common RPG by mixing Evil/Neutral/Good with Chaotic/Neutral/Lawful. Almost every character in the game falls into one of these slots like Logain is Lawful/Evil, Alistar is Lawful/Good, Zeveran is Chaotic/Neutral, Sten is Lawful/Neutral...etc. The fact is, these plots/lines are very well written when you decide to pick a 'character'. For example, I played as an Chaotic/Good character in the Mage Origin, I helped Jowan without telling the Irving and stand by Jowan until the end. It makes the story more 'dramatic' than just playing without having a clear character type choice in mind.

Also, some of the choices you make during the 1st play through will not show the result until after the game end. You think that this decision is a 'good' choice but in the end you get a totally different result. For example: Belen is pretty much a back-stabbing evil tyrant; any 'good' character would think twice when picking him for king. However, he changes Orzammar for the better by breaking down the caste system, let the casteless have better lives and push back the darkspawn. Harrowmont fails as a King if you pick him and Orzammar turns into more political struggles.

Oh, the best character in the game is probably Anora the queen. She back-stabbed me the 1st time I played as a Lawful/Good Noble type in my decisions and I hated her so much with her self-serving attitude. I married Alistar and thew her into a tower. The 2nd time I play as a morally flexible Chaotic/Neutral Mage... she didn't back-stab me. She turned out pretty 'well' after I threw the hardened Alistar at her. Then I finally realized something.... she's something of a tsundere.

tl;dr

This must be aimed at me, since I'm the only naysayer.

Instead of breaking down each smaller wall of tl;dr and responding with why I think you're either wrong or when missed my point(s), I'll just say that you could do a lot better than use half of your post to show off your understanding of D&D Alignment.

If the big boys and girls here want to tell me I'm wrong, go for it, but please not like this.

The ending was a bit...anti-climatic.

And it felt quite repetitive after a few times, even when choosing different paths and stories.

But overall, not that bad.

It's been about a year since the last post, and I just noticed the sequel got announced.

Thoughts?

Also, I just finished the Darkspawn campaign and the ending made me feel terrible. It was fun right up to when Alistair was looking around. I'm glad I got the trophies first time through so I don't have to play through again. cry

Heck yeah. The sequel looks great, even though all I saw was that one scene.

Anyone else play the Amaranthine Coast expansion? I got all the add-ons off of the Playstation Network and I really liked the abandoned castle one since you could store your loot there. What I didn't like is that in the Amaranthine Coast expansion all that stuff you stored was lost (although you get a new storage location and the chance to make some really bitchin' runes and new classes of weapons and armour) and you could only take to Amaranthine what was in your inventory when you beat the Archdemon. Also, any weapons or Armour you had from download sources didn't transfer to Amaranthine so if you had some cool weapons or armour from the DLS packs equipped you basically walked into a Darkspawn attack at the Amaranthine Keep naked and unarmed. Luckily I was rocking the Juggernaut armour and had a decent sword and shield in my inventory when my stuff from DAembarrassed didn't transfer over.

I haven't been following the sequel too much, but I am interested. All I really know about it right now is that:

1) It's a story running parallel to the Blight from the first game - at times, at least >_>
2)You have a fixed name and background elements
3)Your Human (Might change?)
4)New art style.
5) Dialog works like Mass Effect, though the options are less vague now. Very nice there, really

Until I catch news on a prospective release date, that's enough for me smile Be nice to know if BioWare tones down their fascination with blood, but.... eh >_> Looking like mooks explode in my presence regularly when they don't was kinda weird wink
