I've read that it destroys the quality of the scan (DGT said they were considering putting watermarks on their pages but they knew a watermark would screw it up somewhat), and Tazmo might edit it out. I'm not certain if he does edit out credits or logos if they are in an easy-to-remove place like a white area instead of over screentone, where a huge white spot would be very evident.

For those who might want to try, we could put just one line of text over a hard-to-edit screentone/art instead of a logo, and it says:
Quote
No to Tazmo, no to Narutofan.
or, perhaps, a shorter version of:
Quote
NO Tazmo! NO NarutoFan!
Something like that, perhaps near the bottom so that it doesn't ruin reading. One of the current efforts now (that I know of) is the BS page, and now, a watermark.

Just follow after Bludshock and include a jpeg image in the manga chapter release.

Eventually, the first weeks he won't notice and some damage will be done. When he starts to remove the pages manually, well, it will be the time to add "NARUTOFAN ROBS YOU" on every single manga page.

It's a bit extreme, but that's what needed.

Tazmo is a shmuck, no doubt about it. But getting all bent out of shape about it is a pointless endeavor. Sure, what he does is illegal and immoral, but so is scanlating licensed manga--and many of you are guilty of that. Hell, scanlating unlicensed manga is still illegal, too, and that's not stopping any of us.

As much as I would like to see Tazmo burn in hell, I can't really blame him for making money off of stupid people. If people can google shit and find narutofan, they can find scanlation sites and update sites like this one. Many scanlators even have their releases available for download on their sites. It's ridiculous that he's been around this long. As a scanlator, it aggravates me that there are many of my group's releases on Narutofan. I tried to do something about it and failed. I've decided not to stress about it anymore.

Not that I support Narutofan or Tazmo, but some people who subscribe are aware of these issues but just don't care because they are willing to pay money for direct downloads in one place that saves them the trouble of having to search for free downloads scattered around the web.

I just had an idea (this may have been said earlier, I really don't feel like thumbing through the some billion posts already to check) that maybe groups that wanted to screw with tazmo could have their editors put little snippets at the bottom pretty much saying "tazmo's lame" or whatever. He could go and edit every page like that to fix it, but it would be one hell of a pain in the ass to do.

Ok, I'm new to this community, and I admit, I have used manga plus because of its convenience. I know he lies and uses the work of other scanlaters, but what about raws? I almost solely dl raws so I can upload them to my iphone, so I am not even involving myself in the work of scanlaters. Tazmo uploading a raw isn't taking away from a scanlater's work. It is taking away from the original author, but apparently all you guys think that's ok.

Also, I like his website because all the raws are so well organized. I'm often in a hurry, so I'll check the website, grab the manga I need and transfer to my iphone for reading while I'm on the train or something. I'd LOVE it if free sites could provide that kind of speed and ease of use.

I want my money going to the people behind the works I enjoy, but I just haven't found any sites that provide what I need.

Edit by mod:Sorry, now askig for downloads, even raws. But I assure you, there are other, free places.

Uh I think the mod mistinterpretted my post. I was asking for LEGITIMATE places to download manga, as in, manga that has been licensed to be made into electronic form for the purpose of web distribution, like ebooks. I'm asking whether this exists or not.

No double posting either. Please read the rules.

You'd rather pay Tazmo for scans, instead of buying the original works? That makes no sense at all... Why not just buy the raw tanks? Even if you wanted them on your iphone you could easily scan them yourself and also get to keep the tanks!

Tazmo generates his hits from people wanting scanlations, there is much better sites for raw manga than his. Thats where he gets them from.

Uhh, no one thinks it is okay, and any respectable manga fan will tell you to BUY the manga you read, especially if it is available and translated where you live. A lot of us buy the original works whenever possible.

There are many other places that do not make money from raw scans, scanlations or subtitled anime. Many of those sites are much more organized than his site. All you need to find them is 5 minutes and a PC with a browser. GOOGLE
Any site asking, or offering a service for which you have to PAY to use their PRIVATE servers, is bullshit because they make money off of other people's hard work.

Amazon.com - buy the originals, especially since you want raws
Google.com - search for free sites that provide you with scanned raws, if you can't scan the stuff you bought

Manga isn't distributed legally, in electronic form as far as I know. If anyone knows differently, by all means correct me. You can just buy the originals and then use a scanner to scan it obviously, for personal use of course. No scanner? Buy one, they are cheap, or just go to a local public library, or your school library if you are a student.
Or just learn to use google, type "raw manga" and find an alternative, free site to get raws from.
