sorry but here are all guys coming together who dont like the books
the movies or the person stephenie herself

there are tons of person in the world who would say wuthering heights was not their taste.... or that jane austen is boring like hell
or that romeo and juliet is just some "oh we saw us and fell in love and now we would die for another..." thing

it's stupid to say something like that
but that would be free mind

i can't understand the video that well... because the quality is really bad... and english is not my mother language

i think she just tries to describe what true love for her means.... on the example of books the crowd would mix with true love

and she explains why they dont earn the words "true love" in her opinion

you all said why twilight doesn't earn those words...
why is it ok for you if it's not ok for her?

i'm a twilight fan
but i'm much more obsessed with heath and cathie and lizzy and darcy

i think it's okay that i like them all
and if all those wanna be writers were
nice people who would respect the world she created
we would not have this conversation
because she is a big fan of all those works
she used them in her book!!!
she thought of them while writing

and this discussion was brought up by people who take themselves to important and like to hear themselves talk all the time
and shakespear would have laughed hard about this because
this is a topic the world dont need

This woman is seriously messed up. She seems to have the mind of a child and she is extremely self-centered. I've got a lot of points here.
1. Here is what Robert Pattinson, who played Edward, had to say about Meyer in an interview:
"...when I read [Twilight], it seemed like I was convinced Stephenie was convinced she was Bella and it was like it was a book that wasn't supposed to be published. It was like reading her sexual fantasy, especially when she said it was based on a dream and it was like, 'Oh I've had this dream about this really sexy guy,' and she just writes this book about it. Some things about Edward are so specific, I was just convinced - I was like, 'This woman is mad. She's completely mad and she's in love with her own fictional creation.'"
2. She came up with the original work from an erotic dream she had one night. She even told the actor about this and it is what freaked him out the most.
3. I won't even get into the pregnancy thing because that is necrophilia. Plain and simple, corpses can't make babies and vampires are corpses.
4. In one of the books a guy, Jacob, is thinking of trying to seduce a seven year old girl. (I think her name was Nessie or something like that)
5. Jacob imprints on his own daughter in one of the books. I think this relates to the above post, but to fall in love with your own daughter in that way is screwed up.
This woman is nuts. She is basically promoting necrophilia, pedophilia and incest with her series of books. To top it off, her own brother even says her books are poorly written and have somewhat easy to ignore spelling mistakes. I found this link quite informative, if not a little bit much at the beginning: http://www.cracked.com/funny-1807-stephenie-meyer/

About the thing she did at her book signing, it is in the link I posted. She was asked why she made such an anti-feminist character (Bella) and how she could live with herself and Meyer responded with "I don't get the question."

Jacob did not imprint on his own daughter. He imprinted on BellaxEdward's kid. I find incest a lot less disgusting than "imprinting" on the daughter of the woman you've been trying to catch since New Moon, and what half of the damn series is about. That really makes me sick for some reason.

The child's name is Renesmee. Aka, Nessie:

Her dream was not erotic, and Jacob did not try to seduce a 7 year old. The kid aged really fast, so when it's 18 it will technically be 7, or something.

I think your confusing personal taste with actual quality.
You don't have to like something to know wether or not it is good. Just as you do not have to know something is good to like it.
For example, I don't like Bach. But that doesn't stop me from knowing his compositions are of high quality, their just not my thing.
And every now and then I like getting a burger at burger king, doesn't mean their food is good, in fact, it's horrible, but I still like it.

But I don't really care either way, I'm just bored

Let's burn her at a stake!! roll

I've seen books, with worse themes and topics. Seriously, all the energy you are all putting in this book would be better spent on reading another book. One that is, according to your standards, superior to her work.

I would be more incline to listen and empathize, but most reasons posted here are somewhat immature and irritating to a point. I realized that I would probably get "bashed" for this, and I shouldn't even involve myself, but honestly, some of you are acting like the fangirls of Twilight that you abhor so much.

So what if she wrote it out of her "wet dream?" So what if she's in love with her own OC? So what if she made a vampire and a human conceive a child? So what? So what? So what? What is it to you? It's fictional work.

I don't think that Heathcliff's motive (revenge) is an appropriate message. I don't think that Romeo and Juliet's act of suicide is an appropriate message. Catcher in the Rye? Holden is not a very good role model, according to some people. If I want to be nick-picky, I can find faults in every book.

I can be self-centered and I do have a mind of a child, most days. I also make grammar and spelling mistakes. Are you going to denounce me? She's only human, as flawed as she is. So she is full of herself, so what? I'm sick of seeing the same post over and over again, pointing out how awful she is. None of you know her personally. I don't even know how your hatred became so intense.

At least people are reading, and are stimulating their brain. Rather than being parked right in front of the TV or playing video games. I'm going to sound condescending, but what sort of books do you read?

But more to the point, if Meyer really did declare herself or her work "better" than some of the classics mentioned, (I can't understand that video) then that's very egotistical of her. Is she? I highly doubt it, but I just don't understand the degree of hate for her. What do you want her to do? Offer a public apology and pull all her books off the shelves, promising to never write again? Then you are better as a human being. What's done is done.

I just can't comprehend this. confused

And now, I'll be ostracized laugh

Quite the opposite. That was the best text wall I ever read.

Not that I ever read them, this was a special occasion. :'D

@MasamiAkane: No one really cares. I don't care, but I can still argue. If people go around saying "it's just a book," or "why do you care," and just telling us that there's no reason to give a shit...think about the inclinations of that.

It's like telling someone that doesn't like gay people that it doesn't matter what or who you want to sleep with, get a life. Have you ever convinced someone of this? I sure haven't confused

You're not gonna get anywhere. As long as the twilighters are here, the dark side will be there. Feel free to be switzerland, but if you say things like "it's just a book," there are a lot more things you can be preaching about.

It's like saying what you're saying, but towards the bible. That's just a book, isn't it? Books are powerful, people seem to forget.

@mewnbrite
The bible?
It is just a book.

Everything is just... Is.
Until you give it meaning.

And to be honest? The bible is one of most overrated books ever written.
It's like writing about the environment in this day and age.
It will surely get attention.

And people seem to forget, that fiction is just fiction.
You like it, you don't like it.
It's for everyone to decide on their own.

So she wrote a book
So you may or may not like it.

Great.
Next please.
