Any shonen mangas out there where the protagonists has a serious attitude (as opposed to being perverted, stupid or naive in some mangas)

As for the genres, fantasy, science fiction, or anything you could think of is welcome here.

Spiral: Suiri no Kizuna - good mystery, and the hero is a genius, but he does have some issues
M.C.Law - also mystery, but it's seinen, a bit more mature than shonen so it should be ok
Beck - the main character is kind of a geek, but the main cast surraunding him are great
Kiseijuu - this one has character development, so the main guy becomes physical strong and also develops a serious attitude

The Breaker MA KI Manga
Area no Kishi Deep dramatic beginning in this Football manga.
Bamboo Blade Girls and kendo, some are serious.
Gamaran For shounen this dude is pretty serious.
Holyland Its seinen.

World End Fairytale
"Bungaku Shoujo" to Shi ni Tagari no Douke
Zombie-Loan
Luno
Senjou no Valkyria (there's an anime which I would recommend)
Blood Alone
Vampire Juujikai
Chrome Shelled Regios: Missing Mail (there are a few mangas, as long as they follow the anime)
