Spoiler (highlight to view)
I'm given to understand that it is Watanuki... the clone sacrificed his existence as the price for setting Syaoran free and stabilizing Watanuki's existence.

But I'm not 100% certain... I was really skimming towards the end.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
i just read the last chapter, and it also looks like watanuki sacrificed his own existence to fuse back with syaoran or something like that

What a horrible ending.

Also

Spoiler (highlight to view)
does that mean that it's basically the xxxholic ending as well? i hope not. Watanuki and XXXholic overall was my favorite CLAMP series. If they don't bring him back, that will just suck. He has suffered a lot, and his existence no longer being there is just more depressing to his friends and all. BRING HIM BACKKKKKKK!

Clearly i am filled with various emotions regarding CLAMP...mostly hate atm.

EDIT: Nevermind, i am told that there is one last special chapter. Let's see if they can fix this dramatic yet trainwrecked hate filled ending [ on my part].

Spoiler (highlight to view)
WATANUKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
COME BACK!

Yes, i do like this character that much

Um... from what I understand, Watanuki didn't merge with Syaoran, it was C!Sayoran (the Syaoran we started the series with) that rejoined R!Syaoran (the one that came in during the Tokyo arc).

In order to keep the balance of the world, Watanuki, who is a paradox (since he doesn't have real parents, having been created to fill the void left by a wish), will remain in the same place (aka, Yuuko's shop). While Watanuki is staying still, R!Syaoran (who has C!Syaoran's memories) will constantly move (searching for a world where he can see C!Syaoran again).

What I don't understand is the name thing. And wtf was up with Syaoran's "father" in Clow Country?!?
I mean, if Syaoran was sent there by his parents in the other world to fulfill the dream thing Sakura had, who the hell was the dude being his dad (the archeologist)?

As for the name thing, what do they mean their true names are both Tsubasa? I feel as though I'm missing something. I thought their names were Syaoran and Sakura. confused

They became paradoxes and gave something up, but I'm pretty sure watanuki and syaoran are still alive. To stop side effects from their being paradoxes, watanuki stayed in yuuko's place and syaoran moved on. That's what i got from it at least.

I got pretty much the same thing as the two people above me. As for their real name being Tsubasa, I just googled it and got that Tsubasa means "wings" so I guess it kinda makes sense after all... in a super confusing way... confused

well as long as watanuki is still alive, i get that now after reading the epilogue, i am happy. But i can't wait for the final chapters of xxxholic. Hopefully it will be happy. This ending was happy too, but it's like a cliffhanger with no possible sequel...

@_@ *brain explodes*

since that black hair kid entered i completly lost track of the story there was a clone made from the feather of the real and when they dissapeared they took the feather back in them selfes but they found out that the real syaoran's parents were acctually clone syaoran and clone sakura and then they gave up there existence. So now the real syaoran has no parents and became a paradox. and because sakura had real parents she's excluded?. but he still feels the clone syaoran in his returned feather so he goes on another journey which also the price that he paid for getting out of the very dark place.

@_@

I think CLAMP may have to release another series to explain Tsubasa, but then, that might just make it more confusing. eyes

He's a part of Syaoran, if memory serves me well.
It was his(Syaoran's) price for breaking a taboo.

I'll probably say this badly, so if someone else wants to jump in, be my guest. It's explained in TRC ch 201 that
Spoiler (highlight to view)
Watanuki was "created" to fill the void of time left by Syaoran making a taboo wish to turn back time to change the moment when the seal of death was placed upon Sakura. Watanuki takes Syaoran's place in his original dimension.

Maybe thinking of it like the timeline in Back to the Future II might help. When Marty McFly goes back in time with the sports results and Biff takes them, Biff creates a new future timeline - a branch that is different from the one that Marty knew. Marty now exists in the new branch, and the old branch no longer exists. However, since we're talking about dimensions and time voids, the dimension that Syaoran was originally from DOES still exist, just without Syaoran in it because he made a wish to turn back time to save Sakura in Clow (and chose to give up his time and freedom as the price) instead. So, since Syaoran is no longer in the original Japan dimension, Watanuki is a created existence to be the "Syaoran" of his original dimension in Japan. Watanuki isn't Syaoran himself, though - just taking his place.

Thanks for explaining. I knew Watanuki had something to do with Syaoran, I remember something about the taboo too but I just never knew what his purpose of relating with Syaoran was.
