I remembered another one: In a bunch of school-life shounens i've read, there's always a scene where a hot/cute girl talks to some guy and the guys friends get a murderous look and confront him saying "I'll never forgive you" or "you bastard" etc etc... it's kind of annoying really >>

What bothers me the most is when the MC is too innocent/nice/principled. "Oh, you're the guy who killed my family and blah blah blah and I've been working so hard to find you and get revenge...but I won't kill you for (insert reason here)," even though it's sooo obvious that this character is then going to come back and try to kill them/hurt those they love/etc.

It really bothers me when the enemy has done something that I consider unforgivable--no matter what their motive was, or if they suddenly change--but the MC still forgives them. I don't care if they repent. That's not going to change what they did! Stop being a nice guy, get off your ass, and take them out! And often enough, what the bad guy did is kill people who aren't close to the MC, therefore we, the readers, are not supposed to care, since the bad guy did repent and no one died that matters to us, just some unimportant bystanders.

"The good side will always win."
"No matter how friggin stupid you are, you just need resilience and good motives and you will prevail."
"The clever, elitist, arrogant ones will always end in akward defeats."
"If you're on the good side, even deaths will be heroic and, on the long run, give others confidence. Depression won't last long."

I quitted Shounen because of these, exept for some borderline cases (Death Note) or those which replace the missing sense of reality with other qualities (Tegami Bachi - for me this is the way even a Shounen can be staged in an enjoyable way!). Oh, and those which are pretty much unrelated to everything you'ld consider as "Shounen": Shigurui.

So, in the end my top 10 lists of manga only consist of Seinen anymore. But after all Shounen is aimed at kids, so that shouldn't be much of a surprise.

lol the typical bronze beat brains
how the villain is portray to plan this devious and long as plan that set in place then the idiot just pounce on in and break everything, BUT because the villain had a bad day and did so much stupid mistakes...like DO every villain have to tell their plan? eek

If a character does any more thinking than "I'll sneak behind him and bash his face", you know he's on the road to the Dark Side. It seems like the moral lesson of every shounen manga is that "heroes don't need smarts" and "smart people are dicks". A hero will turn down a perfectly good plan because it "lack honour", and a villain's perfectly crafted scheme will always fall apart because the hero fights FOR GREAT JUSTICE. If there is an actual intelligent character on the hero's side that isn't above the age of 60, expect him/her to be a cocky loser who has to be rescued by the hero before "learning the error of [his] ways". Dur hur hur.

in my opinion it's:
good guys always have to fight fair.

Yea i second this. "You stand in front the main boss that will destroy the world, kill your friends, do some random bad thing. But hey I will fight him alone, no one dare to join in and help me take him down."
If you have traveled around the world to stop him why can´t you for gods sake trow away your honor and gang up on him?

The other part I really dislike is that is there any manga where there are a effective use of traps? Why should every freaking fight be resolved trough hitting on each other when it is so much more effective to use undercover tricks, gang up, back-stab, anything.

lol Luffy is extremely determined and lost twice AND a third time (trying not to spoil). I don't think EVERY shounen manga has the cliche of determination equals win. This is just one example of many shounen mangas I've read that aren't as cliche as you guy's say. Of course there's no perfect non-cliche, hell to think up something ya hav to have inspiration. But gives some of them a break. Either you've too many manga-or you haven't looked hard enough. There can't be THAT many bad manga out there without SOME good ones. If there is, I'll make a good one my damn self \ _ /

Revealing your tactics to the enemy right AFTER you attack them.

Uh, the most recent example i can think of is Reborn!

Yamamoto attacks Spade, and Spade's all lolol what was the point of that. The best thing to do here is keep your strategy a secret. But no, Yamamoto tells him that it's so he can sense out his illusions or whatever. If I were the enemy, I'll somehow use that to my advantage and devise a new strategy which I, IN TURN, WILL KEEP HIDDEN FROM EVERYONE.

-More like everyone in the school hates the guy. I can't stand those scenes. Makes me want to drop a series completely.
-Another annoying cliche is when someone has a huge issue about taking something from a destroyed town, shop, etc. Normally it happens is survival genres. Like, the person will be starving, but they'll be conflicted about taking food from an abandoned store in a town after a civilization ending catastrophe. So much so that they leave money or not take it at all. Nobody is like that.
-This line: "Just an average high/middle school student..."
-The fact every one of the student "delinquents" (especially middle school) look like adults with facial hair and crap.
-Student Council President is cool and popular with everyone. I don't know about you guys, but every one of those I've met were loser in every way except academically.
-Also, we can't forget the borderline retarded ecchi cliches, like a guy bumping into a girl and have his face planted between her tits or legs. Evidently, nobody uses their arms to catch themselves.
-The male lead get hugged or kissed and freaks out saying something stupid like "What was that?!!?!?" and/or he runs away.
-Someone takes a full-force slash from a sword, either barely bleeds with minimal bandaging or blood geysers with, still, minimal bandaging. Stitches are rarely, if ever, used. Also, everyone seems to have a 2nd, 3rd and 4th wind (meaning they get beat up nearly to death, get up and fight better than the first time only to get beat again, and this repeats until the main character wins all in one fight).
-Everyone is a virgin.
-Almost every girl has huge tits and none are fat.
-Everyone's parents work overseas for years at a time and they live alone.
Damn, I could go on all day, but I think this post is getting annoyingly long.

Basically, the worse shounen cliche in a shounen manga laugh

the thing i hate most on shounen is the one with, "oh i wont let you guy, doesnt matter if your evil you can turn good!" then it goes from a guy who killed 10000 people be with the people preventing to kill people etc etc, well you know what im talking about.

in the end everyone turns out a "good guy"

The most annoying thing is when a villain that's been planning something for years is stopped in a fight or two like the butler from Hellsing or Aizen.
