Uh, yeah, I have a momentary craving for a certain type of Yuri.

This request is inspired by pairings like Amane x Hikari from Strawberry Panic, and Alphard x Canaan from Canaan.

Haruka x Usagi

Notice a similarity? Yes, they're like guys... just without certain equipment.

I'm looking specifically for yuri where

a) The "top" must be manly 90% the time and feminine 10% of the time. biggrin
b) The "top" must be either be a Prince, if not, at least kind, CONFIDENT and courteous OR
c) Be at least aggressive. See here.
d) The "top" must have short hair, or at least shoulder-length hair in a ponytail like Alphard, because I'm crazy about ponytails. laugh

And if you're wondering why I shouldn't just read shoujo or yaoi instead, well I usually despise yuri, but I find that I actually like this manly-type yuri better than even some shoujos! laugh

...

eek

Those are tough criteria you have there. O_o
Let me try and take a crack at this.

Towakan
A bit smutty. Or more... I think.
Himegami
Haven't read the copy on my comp. But it looks kinda what your asking for... Or maybe not.
Flower Flower
This is a toss up here.

Not sure how closely I follow your criteria, but it's something, right?
If not, I shall skip away. bigrazz

The cover looks really, really, really moe. (Sorry, I loathe anything moe. eek )

I must say, I keep my eyes peeled for this type but its very rare... there's a tragic Brother dear brother and a shoujo The Secret garden as far as I can tell..none of the 'guy'-s are aggressive..they are rather gentlemanly..both are shoujo-ai with no sex scenes..

..this topic should be under yaoi/yuri for more takers..

Omg the boyish girls make me go "doki doki" too!

Oniisama e - Saint-Juste is long-haired but OH so manly!

Claudine - again, long hair but very manly (even thinks of herself as a guy).

The Magnificient Asuka Gang! - butch type in a girls' gang.

The Virgin Mary Watches Over Us - Sei Sato (Rosa Gigantea) qualifies. Hair is shoulder-length to start off with but she cuts it later on. Plus, she's very aggressive, flirtatious with other girls and just really cool... (Lol can you tell I have a crush on her? EYE-CANDY PICTURES OF HER COMING ON TO GIRLS OMG. And then WITH SHORT HAIR. <3333333333)

Gold Rush 21 - Yeah, you'll see. Don't want to spoil it for you... smile

Hhmm...lemme think.

Hanjuku Joshi would probably fit, but the characters look a bit loli-ish though they're supposed to be in high school. But Chitose fits the role of 'manly-type' pretty well.

Pieta isn't actually all that much about the relationship...well, actually, it is, but maybe it's just less about the romantic side. And it's rather gloomy. Not a lot of lovey dovey scenes, but I found it pretty touching. But, even though they don't go into the romantic side of the relationship much, Rio definitely comes across as a masculine prince type or something. Reminds me a lot of Haruka.

Strawberry Shake Sweet looks like it has that sort of set-up, but it's a bit more confusing, as the girlish looking one is actually more masculine than the manly looking one, and though is more perverse, is actually more passive...so it might or might not qualify lol

A Kiss, Love, and a Prince is a cute one shot by Morinaga Milk that ties into a series of one shots she has. It's not too long, but the 'manly type' is quite literally a prince (in a play) and wears a (sort of short) ponytail for most of the one shot. Though like I said, it's short and cute fluff, not too much substance.

I would definitely agree that Maria-sama ga Miteru is an excellent yuri, even if most of the yuri is (blatantly obvious) sub-text. Though Sato Sei may not immediately fit the image of a masculine type, her personality more than does it. Of the three mediums (manga, anime, and novel) I recommend going for the original novel first, even though there's not as much translated as is shown in the anime.

Hhmm...I can come up with tons of yuri where someone has the right personality, but most of them are too girly. Sorry XP These are my best recommendations.

I was wonder if there any Tomboy x Tomboy ( or Manly x Manly?) out there ? Eh not fan of manly woman x feminine girl, It kinda like het relationship to me. Just like Yaoi when the uke is way to girly -_-

Oh I think I need to watch Canaan soon. I heard of it before.

Paros no Ken
Versailles no Bara It's a shoujo, but i swear that Oscar (the girl heroine that's pretending to be a men) has romantic relationship with Marie. But the main pairing is hetro. just thinking about how i watched this show as a kid is actually scary...
