I've been interested in this series for awhile. But when the anime came out, I noticed a lot of shoujo-ai, and Index references in it.
So I'm just wondering is there shoujo-ai in this series?
Do I need to read Index first to get it?
Thanks.

Well, the shoujo ai part is for comedic purposes I guess, and so far the anime is a good adaption, with slight differences, but both manga and anime are based on a light novel, so I don't really know how it's. Also, it's not exactly necessary to read Index, but it's a plus, since you get to see some situations from a different point of view and that is one of the most interesting thing they both offer.

Thanks for the explanation~
Hopefully the manga won't have as much shoujo-ai/fanservice as the anime...

The manga is a lot better in my opinion. The anime had to much pointless filler and seemed to be going overboard with Kuroko's obsession. And instead of the sisters arc (which is probably what the OVA will be) they decided to put even more filler at the end.
Funny, I'm pretty sure Railgun is more popular than Index, but Index is getting a second season. Probably has something to do with there not being enough of it yet.

Thanks for the reply. Glad to know the manga is better.
