Ok so what I am looking for is somewhat easy to define but really difficult at the same time.
Here goes; I want a story that has these elements:

The main character living in a village perhaps or somewhere seemingly isolated. There is a legend perhaps about a race/group of protectors around the area beyond their village OR person that guards the area/forest... Legends forgotten, the protagonist listens to as he/she grows up and having dreams and fantasies about them. Then later grown up now (teen) is somewhat cynical - innocence lost - doesn't believe them and scorns others at his/her village still believing them. It is time of distress, maybe invaders or thugs or bandits. Their village is enslaved/suffering consequences of their use of area as base or using the people themselves. Maybe the character has to leave to find help or escapes because the bandits/thieves (bad guys anyway) are after her/him or his family or is lone survivor of an attack on his family or village.
On the way he meets a mysterious person that saves him/her.
Maybe she/he wakes at his place after some time. Anyway they travel together or lives with him/her for some time before deciding to leave again. The savior is also isolated (maybe in the forest around the are but noone knew about him)
Classic relationship growth... Strangers at first, annoyed or surprised at weird/non normal/canonical behavior from savior. Depending on the pairing situations that are cliche when you have read a tom of manga etc...
Bottom line he is somehow connected to the legends...

As you can see I have many details about the kind of story I want but at the same time it feels difficult to find one because I cant really know what to search for.

So if anyone has any story to suggest to me I am all ears. (preferable completely scanlated/or at least much of it but really anything will do, I just want to read something that will take some time) Granted I have given an awful lot of requirements but you don't have to take them all in consideration. I just wanted to give the general feeling of the story I want to read. Actually this is an idea I had for years; even before I started reading manga (although I have been reading books in general since I was 8 or 9 so I am very much into fairy tales/fiction) but I am not writer and I would really like to read a manga close to this effect....

For some reason, it makes me think a bit of Mangetsu Monogatari.

And also about Mushishi & Little Forest.

They fit only partly, but that's the best I can think of... *shrugs*
