Are there any mangas that have to do with a child/teenager/young adult (18-25) that overcomes despair, depression, loneliness, shyness to find joy, happiness, friendship in one's life?

I know this may seem a bit broad, but I hope you'll be able to find something of quality.

An uplifting tale of sorts.

Thank You biggrin

PS: I prefer if the character is male, but if not, then its okay

PPS: It's a huge plus if it has been translated/scanlated. biggrin

Real - I think that's where the plot is going, although there haven't been many happy moments yet.

holyland I suppose, hes bullied heavily and suicidal and then through fighting he finds some sort of "purpose" I guess..

confidential confessions There are several stories where the character go from depressing/despairing situations and I think in most if not all of them "find joy" by getting out of it or having it resolved.

Yeah, I am not looking for something too terribly depressing, what I would like to see is a manga where the male protagonist is lonely, shy and eventually learns to make friends, finds joy and escapes his lonely life.

What eventually becomes an uplifting story.

Thanks Again biggrin

Mahoraba kinda fit for the people living with him. It's a great manga though, so you could check it out even if it's not exactly what you asked.

And since you seem to enjoy NHK, try Genshiken. It's more about overcoming prejudice than depair/depression though.
