lookn for a "romance" manga where a popular male changes his personaility or attitute towards life, girls etc for the better due to an incident in his life which occurs during the course of the manga(could be beginning or middle). This incident could gradually or suddenly change his attitude. A good example would be "Aishiteruze Baby" where Kippei becomes more responsible due to his 5 year old cousin Yuzuyu and gives up his playboy attitude. To a lesser extent also "Onani Master Kurosowa" which doesn't really focus on romance and the guy is not popular but he does change his attitude for the better.

Suki-tte Ii na yo fits I think, dunno how much he changes though

then I'd suggest Tales of the Abyss aswell, don't know if the male lead was all that popular in the beginning but he sure undergoes a change alright, it has a good anime aswell if you don't feel like waiting for the releases for it^^ and then there's the game which started it of course
