That was pretty fast.
I dunno about an anime... If they do it just right, I bet they can totally pull it off.
Hopefully they'll do a grand job~ ♡

I don't see how people come to the conclusion it wouldn't work as an anime. There have been countless non-battle manga/anime adaptations that have been successful. In fact, the non-typical shounen tend to be -better- when adapted.
Many romance and slice of life have fairly similar pacing. I suspect the only part which will take any real creativity is how to display the occasional glimpses of Crow/Otters/etc. At WORST it'll just be a close-up shot mimicking the manga. At best they'll blow our minds.

I'll watch it, but it'll be because I'm reading the manga and it'll be a part of the seasonal anime lineup that I'm into.
I'm not really expecting a lot from it, though we all know it'll lose a few things as the usual manga to anime adaptions do.

What's wrong with J.C. Staff?
From what I remember J.C. Staff has quite a few decent series. Not too mention their animation is pretty decent.
They did all the ZnT seasons and all the Nodame Cantabile seasons... Plus Shana no Shakugan and Toaru Majutsu no Index.
From those series alone I see it being a good anime with good art and animation

The thing with J.C. Staff is that the base material they've chosen to produce is already solid, like Nodame Cantabile. The way they've adapted it, though, just feels subpar to the original material. I'd disagree about their animation being decent; look at how they handled the orchestras in Nodame Cantabile. Mostly still-frames, and awful CG in the sequels. I would have liked to see I.G. or some other studio take this one.
Here's what the art of the Bakuman anime will look like. I'm already pretty apprehensive about it; it feels extremely generic and lacks the detail from Obata's drawings. Compared to Madhouse's adaptation of Death Note, the Bakuman anime art style just feels so bland. It's got a Kaichou wa Maid-Sama feel to it (also produced by J.C. Staff), in that there's nothing special to it.
I just feel that the quality of J.C. Staff's anime could be much higher considering the great material they've acquired in the past.

I would just love it (in a bad kind of way, mind) if the animated adaptation was the same in direction as the comic, but backwards in idea. Imagine; two guys working to create a successful anime series, hoping for it to become adapted to a manga series, and only then can the protagonist be allowed to marry the girl of his dreams, who also happens to be the artist of the comic adaptation of his hit series. Lol.
But seriously, the art style of the anime really looks like nothing special. I agree with Keilis. In fact, many animated versions of manga series lack the 'special something' that made the original so great. And vice versa, for example, with s-CRY-ed.
