Never considered becoming a vegetarian so trying to buy free range is as far I'll go (I can't imagine stopping my love for meat simply for dietary reasons). I'm a sucker for a good piece of succulent meat and innards are definitely the way to go! It's a shame how some people have such an aversion to it without even trying...

The only thing I can't stomach (thus far) is black pudding - spat it out straight away.

I was actually raised as a vegetarian from the start, so I have no idea how meat tastes like.

However, I despise the smell of meat more than anything, more so than the prospect of having to kill animals for food. The latter doesn't really bother me that much, actually. And then it's also the fear that I will be allergic to the meat, because for all I know, I could be.

My best friend used to be a vegetarian for 11 years before she gave it up for some douchebag of a boyfriend. We didn't really see eye to eye on that for a while because I was a bigoted hypocryte and she was stubborn but we eventually got over that.

I miss her being a veghead. She would give me all her bacon and other delicous meats. She gets sick eating large amounts of meat and she's moodier now. She was heathier being a vegetarian.

My Buppa can't eat meat and most proteins due to health issues so all my life I've been surrounded by vegetarianism but I personally could not give up meat. I don't eat it everyday but every couple days I get the craving for meat. I respect vegetarians but I could never be one.

Also black pudding is the nastiest stuff I have ever tasted. Never again.

I'm such a picky eater that I could never do it, though would if possible. I only eat beef, chicken and turkey. No pork, venison or baby animals (especially baby animals that's just crossing the line). Chicken and turkies aren't exactly the brightest animals so it helps cope with my guilt but it still hurts to eat beef sometimes and call it my favorite meat being cows are such intelligent creatures. The slaughter house stories and everything honestly bring me to tears, I sound so biased when I say I still eat meat after reading them. And now it's sometimes a guilt trip to drink milk after reading the stories.

I used to believe God put animals on Earth to be eaten but that's not true. Whether you believe in God or not, it's clear that humans are meant to be herbivores. I don't hate people who eat meat being I'm in the same boat, but to those who don't eat meat (and more so don't push your beliefs on others) get a round of applause from me, I envy your willpower.

However, I'm so sick of vegans complaining that people who eat meat are not animal lovers. So... very... sick of it.

I don't like the fact that we have to kill innocent animals to eat meat. However its part of Cajun culture and I seriously need the protein that comes from meat.

Chicken and turkey are my favorites, not just because I love the taste but also because there is next to no guilt when it comes to killing a chicken or turkey.
They barely have a brain, let alone are they capable of using it. Not to mention that they are unbelievably easy to breed and once they stop laying eggs they're useless even to the animal kingdom.

Cruel? Maybe, go say that to the wild animals first. If they could laugh they would.

I am Vegetarian from the start and the same applies to my family, except my father. . I tried eggs once and really didnt liked them, and the same applies for the one small piece of chicken I tried to eat.
Maybe they actually taste good seeing how millions cant survive without them?
Then I guess I have formed a strong negative perception towards them so even if its good,I will always find it bad.

Well... the last of my family members became vegetarians by the time I was born, so I've never ate meat before. Never wanted to either.

I know I loved animals and thought it was plain wrong to kill them since I could remember, partly because of religion mostly because of myself. I refused to use the school cafeteria after the first day, being grossed out by the smell.

Well, for me I guess it just came naturally wrong. I don't mean just the part of killing animals, but everything. *shrug* Perhaps I thought the way it works wasn't fair? I would rather die before I eat animal meat, though... I might take consideration in a live-or-die situation to human flesh...

I'm a strict vegan, I went vegan at the beginning of the year after watching the documentary Earthlings. I loved meat, cheese and eggs before I went vegan, and I went vegan overnight. I don't see how the momentary enjoyment in the meat is worth the pain and suffering that animals have to go through to give it to us.

Pigs
- have their teeth ground up, this is done without anaesthetic and is excruciating.
- male pigs are castrated without anaesthetic

Chickens
- often have their beaks clipped off without anaesthetic
- live in conditions that are so terrible they have to be fed antibiotics to live.
- In the egg industry, all male chickens are killed, sometimes just chucked into a bin while they are still alive, they die of starvation, and being crushed and beaten up by the other chicks.

Cows
- Have their horns cut off without anaesthetic,
- Are fed corn, their stomachs are designed to eat grass, eating corn makes them very sick, they have to be fed antibiotics.
- Dairy cows have a metal rod shoved into their vagina and are artificially inseminated, their days old calf is then taken from them, and either killed, or made into a dairy cow.
- The average cow is supposed to live for twenty to twenty five years, dairy cows will only live between three to five years. By the end of their life they are often too weak and sick to walk, or they are just killed because they are beyond their milk making prime.

Sheep
- Have their tales docked without anaesthetic
- Have strips of skin cut away from the backs of their legs and around their bottom, this is done without anaesthetic and often leads to infection.
- Sheep bred for wool have maggots eating them alive because their wool is so thick and, in Australia when they are shorn they get painful sunburns, lambs will often die of exposure.
- Merlino wool producing sheep are bred to have lots of rolls of skin to make the wool thicker and better quality, their maggot problem is even worse and the shavers catch on the rolls of skin, large strips can be shaved off.

Sometimes the methods used for rendering the animal unconscious before being slaughtered don't work, and so the animal has its throat cut while it is fully conscious and bleeds to death. Sometimes, they are still conscious when their hair is burnt off with boiling water or hot metal. Chickens are always conscious when their throats are slit, and often still conscious when they are boiled in vats of boiling water to get rid of their feathers.

Eating meat is incredibly unhealthy, the fatty acids and cholesterol in all animal produce are very, very closely related to cardiovascular diseases, obesity and various forms of cancer, among other things. Because animals are fed so many antibiotics, people are getting resistant to antibiotics.

Due to the resources involved in producing animal products, if no one ate meat, then there would be more than enough to feed every single person in the world, from every starving country, as well as allow nature to reclaim some of its land for wild animals to live in. A vegan diet takes 1/20th of a meat diet.

Sorry about the rant/essay. There are many good reasons why I am so passionate.

All life is nothing but a circle, i will be eaten at some point, be it by plants as ash or by worms... i may even be eaten alive who knows, but that is it, all matter is finite and we are part of everything, exchanging life and preserving your own is, without doubt, the most natural thing to do.

All things are alive and deserve compassion, just because animals are closer to me it doesn't mean his life holds a higher value than that of a plant or even a worm, since so many are killed when working the land.

Finally, cultivation is the number one reason for deforestation, and deforestation is number one reason for endangering animals, so it's not like i'm helping nature, in my opinion, by just eating plants.

i have no problems with vegitarians they have their reasons for not liking or eating meat, i have a friend that i knew would become one eventual- as he always hated the taste of beef and pork. and i enderstand feeling bad for how most of these animals are treated

the people i cant stand are the vegans. just a bunch of wannabe activists acting all high and mighty because they have enough money to waste on their overpriced garbage.

you arent going to save the world by not drinking milk, all your doing is pissing off everyone around you, with your overzealous CULT of a diet. what are you gonna do? live another 3 or 4 years?

watch the discovery channel, animals are cruel and heartless. yeah life sucks and the world is cruel- but we gotta do what we gotta do to survive. most people can barely afford food; sorry i dont have enough money to eat nothing but expensive nuts, berries, and and all that disgusting soy crap- just because i feel bad for how chickens are treated. sure eating too much red meat is unhealthy- eating too much of ANYTHING is bad for you; but our bodies were designed to digest an omnivorous diet, you arent doing anything bad by eating meat-

it is a FACT that if the world switched to nothing but organic vegan food- 1/3 of the population would starve to death.

ps. you are enourmous pain in the a**es and most of your family cant stand you

I am a vegetarian and started being one after I saw a video about how animals are treated before being slaughtered and I found it disgusting and awfully sad... It's not so difficult for me to not eat meat because I never ate that much of it. I also have the impression that I started to eat healthier after becoming a vegetarian^^

That might be true but do you know that for the sake of farming animals a lot of plants are cultivated just to feed the cow, pig or whatever that will be later on your plate? And that is just wrong in my opinion.
I don't have anything against eating animals in general. But against today's way of holding animals and the consequences of it.

I do agree with you on one point and that is that being a vegan could be expensive. But you just feel that they are high and mighty because you feel guilty when you are with them. It's a fact that people who eat meat often feel cornered/are offended when being with vegetarians/vegans...

and this is based on what confused If you also refer it to undeveloped countries I think you might be right. But they have other problems and don't have the freedom to think about their food so I don't see your point.

How does that makes sense, would you prefer the pig to starve?, na but seriously, due to Land rotation of cultive, it's common to use the same land that feeds the animals with certain plants, such as clovers, to give the earth the chance of resting for further farming of human food, so there is nothing odd about that, and just eating plants is less healthier that having a balanced diet anyway.

I don't see why people tend to think, without seen it in first person (and i did since i live in an agricultural country), the worst out of everything, maybe in some really crappy place in USA that is the way of handling the livestock, but i had seen thousands of acres of farming land and never nothing like what some people "hear of" or read who knows where.
