I just wanted to start a topic about the constant losers of shounen manga. I would like to start with the great classic loser of DBZ: Krilin. Short and weak, he dies or is almost killed frequently from beginning to end. Usopp from One Piece can count too, even though he wins he still ends up within an inch of his life almost everytime. Next is Chad from Bleach. I know he has lost major battles at least twice, despite being the biggest and strongest looking (big surprise there). There is Kuroda from Angel Densetsu who acts strong but gets beaten up countless times. After that is Kuwabara from Yu Yu Hakusho, who I like but must acknowledge as weak. Anyone who has seen the series knows what I'm talking about.
Despite that, these losers often offer motivation to the rest of their team; Krilin made Goku go supersayan and if Toguru hadn't offed Kuwabara Yusuke wouldn't have won the tournament.
I want to hear what everyone thinks about these poor losers and suggest more losers. Those losers can include people who cease being losers later or become losers later.

I vote Sawada Tsunayoshi from Kateikyoushi Hitman Reborn! When I first started the series, I honestly found him to be the most pathetic shounen hero ever, what with his constant whining and screaming and whatnot.
But as the series progresses, he morphs from being a loser into one of my fav shounen heroes ever!

Yamato from Suzuka is one I hate soo much and also most protagonists from shounen romance harem mangas such as Love Hina. Sakura from Naruto, god every 20 chapters or so she tries to delude herself that she will change and become stronger yet she always ends up relying on Naruto and dragging him down with her stupid requests,

Shioon from The Breaker at the beginning I really hated him. I read a few series with weak/bullied main chars but he was the first which pissed me of this much

Junpei from Ichigo 100% was horrible...Ugh
Edit: God damn Rito from To-Love-Ru was just as bad if not worse than junpei. He makes me rage inside.

Manji from Mugen no Juunin. He never once beats anyone using swordskill, he only keeps relying in the worms. Dropped the manga because of him.

Manji is annoying...i agree
we have waited now for 27 volumes/ 18 years for him to atlest win once without his bloodworms
luckily the manga is not about him at all so it does not matter to me
RIN4ever
ok so indirect Manji is responsible for what is happening atm...habaki would not have been forced to commit suicide if not for the failed experiments on manjis immortality so ok ok
Manji is kind of important

I like krillin and kuwabara. Struggling makes a good fight. I like these type of weak characters. Krillin suffers a lot more than kuwabara though. Krillin stopped being able to handle ANYBODY. The only type he got to show off was when he beat some dude easily in the majin buu saga during the tournament. But if you look at his early fights he usually had a good struggle.
Basically I like fights when the hero sweats and bleeds and barely wins. So I don't mind them.
Maam from Dragon Quest Dai counts. She was a weak healer and she leaves to become a fighter and she's still weak, or not useful at least.
C'mon... he has a girlfriend throughout most of the series, starts up a club, and actually makes 3 movies!

I agree with the club and the movie talent, but his indecisiveness in choosing which of the girl he likes most was unrealistic. It took him more than a hundred chapters to choose in the end.

Welcome to pretty much every single harem manga. Aside from the whole making up his mind thing, I didn't think he was a loser at all.
